I woke up and got ready to go to my new job, I walked into the building and went up to Chief Owen Hunt's office. When we saw each other we smiled 'It's been too long.' he said and hugged me 'Only fifty million years.' I said and hugged him back. I haven't seen him since my 18th birthday, our Mom's were friends. But we moved to Colorado, we tried staying in contact because he was my sister and I's "older brother". He drove four hours to pick me up from a party and beat up my ex boyfriend who hit me a couple times. He's a good man. 

 'I see you're all ready to go, let's take a tour.' he said then we walked out of his office and he showed me around. We walked through most of the hospital before we stopped at the gallery 'Is that a craniotomy?' I asked looking closer 'Yup. That's Dr. Derek Shepard. He's good.' Owen said 'He's great. God, I wish I had his hands.' I said 'That's my husband.' a woman behind me said 'Oh no I didn't mean it like that, he just really talented.' I said getting nervous 'I'm only joking, he is my husband but I knew what you meant. Meredith Grey.' she said sticking her hand out 'Evangeline Wade.' I said shaking her hand 'Evan is going to be in peds.' Owen said and pushed me to the door gently 'Make her feel welcomed.' he said to Meredith. I started to walk away and I found myself in a random hallway, a little kid came running at me and hid behind my legs 'He's gonna kill me!' the little boy yelled. I turned to him and picked him up. He was maybe 4 or 5 years old. I smiled at him 'Nobody is gonna kill you, where did you come from?' I asked and he pointed to the hall. I carried him down the hall until a man in a white doctors coat walked over 'There you are.' the doctor said. The boy put his head on my shoulder 'I just need to check your heartbeat, come on.' he said and the boy shook his head no 'Can she check your heart beat?' he asked. The boy nodded. I followed the doctor down the hall to peds and I checked his heart beat 'You sound good.' I said and smiled 'High five.' I said then the little boy and I high fived.

I walked out of the room and the doctor followed me 'Alex Karev.' he said 'Eva-' I got cut off 'There you are, I'm glad you found your way up here. Karev this is your new co-worker Evangeline Wade.' Hunt said 'So you're also a runner.' Karev said then I laughed 'I can't focus when I'm not interested. No offence Owen.' I said then he shook his head 'Where is Robbins?' he asked 'This way.' Karev said. We followed him down the hall and that's when another doctor walked with us 'Arizona Robbins. You must be Evangeline Wade, I read your books. All the wrong things hit my heart, I'm so sorry for your loss.' she said. The smile on my face faded a little bit 'Robbins.' Owen said 'I hope you enjoyed it.' I said and smiled. 

Owen left and I got adjusted to the new environment and patients, Robbins was showing me around peds. 'I'm sorry if what I said came off as rude, it wasn't my intention. I don't mean to bring up bad memories.' Arizona said 'No no it's okay, if I didn't want people knowing I wouldn't have written a book about it. Owen is just over protective over me.' I said and smiled 'You guys grew up together right? He told me to take care of you.' she said and laughed 'Yeah, our moms were best friends. He was always the brother we never had... I never had.' I said then we turned into a room. 'Hello Mister and Mrs. Pickard, hello Princess Annie, this is Dr. Wade. She is going to be helping me today.' Robbins said then handed me the chart 'Read it out loud of us please.' Robbins said. 'Princess Annie Pickard, age 6, stage 3 leukemia.' I said 'Do you wanna be a princess?' Annie asked 'Of course I do.' I said then she grabbed my hand and grabbed a pretend crown and placed it on my head 'Do I look beautiful?' I asked then she nodded her head.

We went around to the rest of our patients 'Let's have lunch, you have to meet my wife.' Robbins said 'Karev lunch.' she said then we went down to the cafeteria. I met Arizona's wife Callie Torres 'She has been so excited to meet you ever since Owen told her you're coming. Huge fan.' Callie said 'I'm honored to be working with someone who enjoys my work.' I said and smiled. Alex walked over and tapped my shoulder 'Wanna go look at the babies?' he asked then I stood up so fast and we went and looked at the babies. 'You have any kids?' he asked 'Nope. Never got married or had a boyfriend long enough. I don't even know if I want any. What about you?' I replied 'Nope.' he said and we smiled and laughed about the babies. 

Alex and I worked for hours on end together, we were standing at the desk talking about our files when Owen walked over 'We're celebrating tonight at Joe's. Around 10 o'clock. You guys coming?' he asked 'Sure.' I said 'Yeah.' Alex said then we continued talking. about our stuff. At the end of our shift we went to go to Joe's but I stopped right at the door 'I only have these.' I said motioning to my scrubs 'No one is gonna care.' he said 'Walk me to my place? It's right there and I'll be five seconds and I don't know where Joe's is.' I said 'Alright.' he replied and smiled. We got to my apartment and I pushed boxes to the side 'Sorry it's a mess, I just moved here.' I said and took off my shoes and walked into my room and got dressed. I walked back over to him and put my shoes on 'Ready?' he asked and I nodded. We walked down to Joe's and got a few drinks with everybody.

'Evangeline tell us about you, you're a mystery to us.' Meredith said 'Well I'm actually from Seattle, but I moved with my parents and sister to Colorado,  I love peds, love the kids, but I don't have any myself. I don't know, there's not much to me... I wrote a couple books.' I said then took a shot 'So you grew up with Owen right? Tell us about him.' the one girl said 'He use to throw mud at me, he showed up to my first high school party and pushed me in the pool and he ruined my first date by sitting down with us and told the guy I had pimples on my butt. Ruined my high school years but that's what brothers do. We aren't related though, just grew up with each other.' I said 'I hate you, Evan I don't think I introduced you to my wife, Cristina Yang.' Owen said 'I hope she beats you up everyday.' I said and we all laughed.
