Chapter 1
It all started at the Valentine’s Disco.
I was in the boarding house as normal, with everyone sitting and watching ‘Valentine’s Day’ in the tv room. It was Saturday night – movie night. All the boys wanted to watch something different, but they had their choice of film last week. It was the girls turn. We were all spread out across the room – Me and Drake, one of my close friends were sitting on a sofa together with some of my other friends. He gently whispered in my ear
‘Are you going to the Valentine’s Disco?’ I smiled at the thought. Next week was the Valentine’s disco in the boarding house – just for the boarders. Everyone was talking about it, people were getting partnered up for it, some went shopping for the perfect disco dress. It was going to be great.
‘Why, are you planning on being my Prince Charming for the night?’ I joked. He looked down at me with those amazing eyes and smiled.
‘I was just asking.’ He replied with a slight wink. I liked Drake, a lot. I just wasn’t sure if he was the one for me...so many people had suggested we go out, but I haven’t been sure. Besides, there are so many perfect boys at this school, I didn’t want to waste my time going out with someone who wasn’t worth it.
I felt a vibration in my pocket and pulled out my Blackberry. Someone had bbm’ed me, and a lot of other people too, everyone was now looking at their phones. It read, from a boy that was in that same room ‘So who wants to be my girl for the Valentines Disco next week? Holla if you want me’ I rolled my eyes. He was the class player – Justin.
Someone replied him – ‘Don’t be stupid Justin, who wants you?’ We were all in one blackberry group, ‘Boarders’, so we could all have one big conversation whenever, which was pretty cool. Everyone started talking about the Valentine’s Disco, on their phones and out loud.
I didn’t even know who I was going with to the Valentine’s disco. I hadn’t really thought about it. A few people had asked me – Joey, Micheal, even Justin. But I didn’t know.
The next day I got a note, and found it on my dorm room floor. It read: ‘The Valentine’s Disco is in 6 days. I will be the guy wearing a hat, holding a rose for you standing by the piano. Signed, Anonymous’
‘What are you reading Dayna?’ my Roommate Nicki asked. I don’t think I properly heard her the first time.
‘Dayna?’ I heard her say again.
‘Huh?’ I said, not really thinking. I was more focused on the note. Nicki walked up to me and slid the paper out of my hands. She read it and her facial expression turned to one of those ‘Aww!’ faces.
‘That’s so CUTE!’ she squealed once she had read the note. I laughed a bit, but I was still confused. Who could it be? Who sent the note?
‘It may be cute, but I have no idea who sent it. It’s only been 2 minutes and it’s already killing me not knowing’ I said.
‘Don’t worry, it’s better when you don’t know. It will be more romantic when he reveals himself at the disco next week.’ She told me.
‘But..but what if it’s someone I don’t like?’ I said worriedly. She just winked and walked away, back to what she was doing before. Did she know?
