Chapter 2
‘TORI!’ I yelled as I spotted my best friend across the hall. It was Sunday.
She looked startled as I yelled her name and ran over to her. Tori was popular, and ridiculously pretty. She could get any guy to fall to her feet. She had probably gotten over 1 million asks to the Valentines Disco from gorgeous boys.
‘Who died?!’ she yelled as I got closer to her. I laughed and shook my head while I tried to catch my breath.
‘Look at this letter..I found it in my dorm.’ She studied the letter and she put on the same face Nicki had...
‘AWW!’ she yelled. It really wasn’t that cute. But then again I had read it over 50 times within the last 10 minutes...
‘What do I do?’ I asked her.
‘Nothing babe.’ She replied calmly. I was shocked. ‘What CAN you do? Ask every guy in school if they sent the letter and make a COMPLETE fool out of yourself?’
I thought about the idea for a second...
‘It wasn’t a question Dayna.’ She said unimpressed but in a jokey way.
‘So I just do...nothing? But I can’t wait 6 whole days to find out who he is! Im nervous!’ I said like a 3 year old.
‘All we have to do is find the perfect mini dress and make sure you look drop dead gorgeous that night. K?’ She told me.
‘Fine’ I mumbled. I really couldn’t wait 6 days.
The Valentine’s Disco came quicker than I thought. It was already time. Tori and some other close friends all met in my dorm and got ready together. You know how girls are – straighteners, hair combs, hairspray, lipgloss, mascara. But it was fun getting advice with my girls on what would make us look our best.
‘This is gonna be the best night ever’ Chelsi told us.
‘Yeah, because you have the perfect date and you look stunning. I haven’t done my hair, I can’t find the mascara and I don’t even know who my date IS.’ I said worrying again. Tori quickly came over and started combing my hair, and Abbie tossed me the mascara. I sighed and tried to calm myself down. Thank god I had the perfect friends.
‘Dude, chill. Your over exaggerating.’ Abbie told me.
Tori finished off my hair and I quickly touched up my face with some blusher and mascara. We all walked up to the mirror and looked at ourselves.
‘We look hot! Now let’s go out there so everybody knows it’ Tori said. I took a deep breath and walked out of the door with them.
As we got to the hall downstairs, where the disco was, I got nervous. Like, really nervous. I grabbed Tori’s arm and yanked her back.
‘Ow!’ she yelled.
‘Im so sorry Tori I didn’t mean to...’ I started.
‘It’s fine!’ she giggled. ‘Are you okay?’
‘Just nervous. I’m just being stupid, let’s just go.’ We held hands and walked into the hall. As we opened the doors, we saw people dancing and having a good time, the background colour was pink because of the light and there were balloons everywhere. It looked amazing.
My eyes quickly shot across the room to the piano – there he was.
‘There’s your guy’ Tori whispered to me. ‘Go have fun girl’
Tori walked over to her date and I walked over to mine. Slowly. Very slowly.
He was wearing a hat and was holding a beautiful rose, while leaning against the piano. Just like he had said. His head was down, so I couldn’t see his face yet. He looked pretty good though.
He must have seen a figure come up to him, because he looked up at me...but he was wearing a mask over his eyes and partially over his nose. Great. So I still didn’t know who he was.
‘Wow’ he said once he saw me. He scanned me with his eyes and smiled. ‘You look beautfiul’ he said. His voice sounded familiar...but I still couldn’t grasp it. A slow song came on and he grabbed me by the waist and said ‘Let’s dance.’
We danced in silence for about a minute, and he got closer and closer to me, until our bodies were against eachother.
‘So when will you reveal yourself to me?’ I asked him bravely.
He gently stroked my cheek and said ‘When the night is over’.
We talked and laughed while slow dancing, and I loved it. He was funny, romantic and had a great personality. But it still bugged me how I couldn’t recognise his voice yet and he wouldn’t tell me who he was.
‘You really are beautiful Dayna’ he whispered while looking into my eyes. I even knew his eyes. The way he looked at me was familiar.
‘You know my name?’ I said. Our foreheads were now leaning against eachother.
‘Of course I do, your my princess, and I’m your Prince Charming, remember?’ Prince Charming...where had I heard that before?
He slowly leaned in until out lips were touching. His hands got tighter around my waist and one slip up to play with my hair. He was going for the hot kiss – He bit my bottom lip and slowly slipped his tongue in. I felt bad because he was a stranger to me, I still didn’t know who he was, and I was already kissing him like this. But then it came to me. The voice, the eyes, ‘Prince Charming’...
‘Drake?’ I whispered softly after I pulled away from the kiss. He kissed me again. It was definitely Drake.
His kisses were perfect, he would play with my hair and bite my bottom lip lightly. He would make it dirty but not too dirty. It was perfect. It already felt like I loved him.
He slowly pulled away and stroked my cheek. I used this opportunity to slide off his mask. Yes, it was Drake.
‘Surprised? Disappointed?’ he asked as his identity was finally revealed.
‘Surprised, yes...’I whispered as I slowly lent in closer. ‘ Disappointed, never.’ I kissed him again, and that time, it was pure magic.
