Ms. Understood

BACKGROUND

The werewolf part of my life is only known by my adoptive father. When I was adopted at five years old, my biological mother was kidnapped and tortured until her last breath.

She got involved in illegal activities and created a debt for herself. The debt she owed was to another Alpha who had already hated her because she ignored his advances.

My adoptive father was with the clean-up crew back then and found me curled up next to my dead mother's body. No one knew she had a kid until then.

My abilities were evident when I became a teenager...I was different. After graduating high school, my pop put me to work. I was tougher and stronger than his other men, eventually putting fear into any adult male who crossed him.

I have no clue who my biological father is, and I don't care. I'm a Vinci to the core, and no blood test is needed.

Pulling up to Lux pack territory, I was preparing myself for some pushback. Axis and I met during a fight I had with an acquaintance of his. He immediately sensed I was werewolf blood.

After beating the shit out of a few of his friends, he reached out to me a few weeks later. That's when I found out his father was the brother of my biological mother.

We were teenagers then and have stayed in touch ever since. Axis was hardheaded and competitive...didn't like being told no. I cared about him but will not hesitate to check him when it comes to Magnolia.

The gate opened, and I pulled into the gated city. Axis has done a great job building his community and maintaining order and prosperity as Alpha. I was actually very proud of him.

The gamma of the pack came out to greet me. Then, I was escorted to the main house where Axis and Nancy lived.

I stood in the middle of their living room, waiting for him to arrive.

"You came back...alone." Axis walked into the room.

"Who else were you expecting me to bring?"

"I guess I was foolish that you would give her to me willingly."

"If you mean Magnolia, you're dumber than I thought."

"Why are you keeping a woman you don't tend to claim?"

"Why did you claim a woman you don't want?"

Axis brows furrowed, and I didn't budge.

"Nancy is none of your business."

"As Magnolia isn't yours. The plans I have for her don't concern you. Worry about your Luna."

"Nancy knows of my search for females to join our home. We have an understanding."

"I don't a give a shit...stay away from Magnolia."

Axis smirked. "And if I don't."

"You have a new enemy."

With my words, Gamma, Beta, and a few other men came into the room. I should have known Axis wasn't going to make this easy.

"That's fine with me."

"Okay, then let's do this."

My wrist was feeling better, so I decided to put my long box braids back in my hair.

Luckily, I knew how to do my own hair and spent the day focusing on doing that. I dipped the ends in boiling water and moussed the top, then stood in the mirror and smiled.

I was finally done and looked out the window. It was night, and I wondered where Leo was. My phone buzzed from an unknown number.

You're fucked up for masing me and running...you're a scary bitch.

I knew it was Stephanie.

Says the girl who brought backup with her to fight. Go find something else to do and leave me alone.

Bitch, don't think I'm scared of you, cause I'm not.

Likewise...

Niko don't want you for real. He may want to fuck but that's it. He'd be on to the next bitch real quick.

Girl, I don't give af. I'm not checking for your boyfriend, just make sure you both stop calling me...I'm over it. Move tf on already.

I pressed send and blocked the number she text me from. The obsession that this girl has with him is unbelievable.

Then I saw the woman that used to appear when I first met Leo. She was sitting on the couch across from me. Her eyes stared at me in curiosity and I was unsure of what to say.

He really likes you and I see why.

She spoke and I froze, not saying a word. I wondered if she was a relative or ex-girlfriend. I was scared to ask for not knowing what the answer would be.

The door buzzed, and I got up to look at the ring camera. It was Karina, and my first instinct was to not open the door.

But all of a sudden, she pulled out a key and began to unlock it. I pulled on the knob mad as hell.

"Oh, you're here. Where's Leo?" She looked surprised.

"He went to run a few errands."

She walked past me with her 6 foot height. "Isn't that your job?"

I ignored her and shut the door. I'm already aware that she is a werewolf, so I'm not trying to have any problems with her.

The kitchen was my next destination while she went to take off her jacket and sit on the couch.

"Would you like something to drink?" I asked.

"Sure, I'll take a glass of wine."

"Red or white?"

"Guess?"

I grabbed the red wine and got a glass out of the cabinet. She smirked and leaned back as I poured her a drink.

Sitting the glass and bottle on the table in front of her, I went to retire to my room.

"Have you two fucked yet?"

I turned around. "No."

Karina got up and sniffed around me, I was uncomfortable. She pulled away, looking me up and down.

"Yeah, y'all haven't. Did he say what time he would be back?"

I shook my head.

She went to grab her glass of wine and the bottle.

"Well, I'll be in his room. Text him and let him know I'm waiting."
