Zelda giggles as I set her down. "Want to get out of here?" I ask with a grin. "Still not ready." She says calmly. "But.. One day I will be." She adds with a smile. "Hahah! You're adorable." I laugh, "And I can wait as long as you want." I add pulling her closer to my chest, Meaning it. "Ok.. Are you telling the truth?... I want an honest answer." She says hugging me back. "Yes it's the truth. I waited 100 years.. I can wait a little longer."
"Good.." She sighs. "I love you." I whisper gently. "I love you too." She smiles. "So should we go back to Impa's to talk about rebuilding the castle?" I ask. "Uh.. sure.. Do you know any construction workers?"
"As a matter of fact I do.."
"Great I'll go tell her about them, and you go get them!" She laughs. "Ok." I smile.

*Next day*
I wake to the soft breathing of Zelda as she rests on my chest, her long hair shining in the sun. I brush the stray hairs from her face, wrapping my arms around her. Her face is calm and she looks so peaceful, Then her brow furrows, as she starts to mumble. "No... NO!" She shouts sitting up, covered in a cold sweat, tears filling her eyes. "Whoa.. are you o-" She cuts me off, pulling me into a tight hug. She weeps into my shoulder, her tears soaking my skin. "Are you ok?" I ask when her crying calms down. "You... you were dead! Ganon was standing over your body!" She gasps. "Hey.. I'm right here.. I'll always be here." She nods looking up at me. "Distract me." She says her face growing splotchy. "What do you mean?" I ask. She just kisses me in response. I pull back. "Are you sure this is what you want?" I ask. "Just kiss me." She says returning to my lips. I kiss her back, unsure of what's happening. I pull her closer to my chest, keeping my hands on her waist. She takes her hands placing them on mine, she pulls my hands up to her chest. "Zelda.. What are you doing?" I ask breaking away. "Please... I need this."
"Zelda... are you sure..?" I ask knowing this is most likely not what she wants. "No... But let's just do it before I change my mind."
"Zelda... please if this isn't what you want then don't do it." She looks down. I can tell she feels ashamed. "It's ok.. Just sit here with me ok..?" I say in a calming voice. "Ok.." She sighs. I lean back against the wall, pulling her to rest on top of me. "Just breathe." I say gently. "Thank you.." She sighs. "How did you know...?" She asks quietly. "Because I know you.. And you said you weren't ready yesterday. And because I could tell you were scared."
"I guess that would give me away." She jokes. I chuckle. "I want you to feel safe and happy and loved when we do it... not scared.. I want you to feel like you're home." I say running my fingers through her hair. "Link..?" she asks after a while. "Yes?"
"I do feel loved and safe.. And happy, I feel at home.." She says still sounding a little anxious. "Are you trying to tell me you're ready?" I ask, hiding my hope. "I think I am..." She looks up at me. "I'm sensing a but." I say. "But.. I would like to be sure about it first." She says with some sadness in her eyes. "I get it.. Zelda..?"
"Yes?"
"Will you meet me by the heart-shaped pond at sunset?" I ask with a smile. "Sure." She giggles.
It's close to sunset and I just finished setting up all the candles. The candles line the banks of the pond, all of them lit. I smile triumphantly. I hear Zelda gasp behind me. I turn to look at her. "Wow.. It's beautiful.." She smiles looking around. "Yeah.. I spent a long time on it." I chuckle. She runs up toward me embracing me in a tight hug. "Sorry about earlier..." she says, looking embarrassed.
"It's okay." I really don't know what else to say. " I don't really know what came over me."
"It's alright." I say meaning it. "It's amazing..." She smiles as she lets go of me. I take her hand in mine, kissing hers gently, as we watch the sunset. She hugs my arm tightly. I give her head a small kiss. "So why did you want to meet here?" She asks happiness, filling her big green eyes. "Well.. Zelda." I say getting down on one knee. "Link..?" She gasps, covering her mouth with her hands, as I pull out a ring box, revealing a gold ring with a small blue gem in the center. "Will you.. Maybe think about marrying me?" I laugh lightly. "Of course I'll marry you!" She gasps tears filling her eyes, as I place the ring on her finger. The tears fall from her eyes as she wraps her arms around my neck. I wrap my arms around her waist. "I love you." She grins, giving me a sweet gentle kiss. "And I you." I smile, kissing her again. "You're as beautiful as the sun." I smile when we break apart. "And you are as perfect as the moon." She replies sweetly. "So should we go tell Impa or what?"
"Oh no.. She'll find out later." She giggles. "Ok.. Well, we should supervise the construction of the castle."
"And plan our wedding." She smiles, her eyes fill with enough joy to make a person go crazy. "Yeah." I laugh. Feeling the happiest I have ever felt since I woke up from my 100 year sleep. "We can do all of that later.. Right now I just want to be with you, watching this beautiful sunset." She sighs. "Ok." I smile letting go of her, taking a seat. She sits down next to me, leaning her head on my shoulder. We watch the sunset together as it slowly fades, a smile creeps onto my face. I feel at peace.. I feel happy.
After the sky had grown dark and the stars started to shine Zelda and I went home. Now she sleeps quietly on my chest, I smile giving her nose a kiss. "Good night. My princess." I smile, closing my eyes, drifting off to sleep.
==========
*Two weeks later*
I wake to soft lips on mine. Opening my eyes I see Zelda smiling, as she pulls away from me. "Good morning?" I say it as more of a question. "Hehe sorry.. I couldn't help myself." She says her smile growing bigger. "It was a nice wake up call." I smile, kissing her back. "Good." She mumbles against my lips, moving her fingers through my hair. I make her sit on top of me. With her legs at my sides, I slide my hands up her thighs, not stopping at her waist. My fingers slide up and down her spine. "So what do you want to do?" She asks pulling away. I laugh lightly. "What do you think?" I say gently. "Link..."
"I know I know.. It was just a joke." She giggles with a sad smile. "Maybe one day." She says returning to my lips. I chuckle against her lips, Sliding my hands to her stomach. I move my lips to the side of her face. "Ok... Ok. No more.." She smiles. "Why not?" I pout. "Because we have a lot to do today, and you know it."
"What do we have today?" I ask. "Oh goddess." She says with an eye roll. "What? I want to know."
"Well we have to go to the castle to make sure everything over there is fine, Then we have to meet with Impa about castle town, and then we have to plan the wedding."
"Ok.. Ok so we do have a lot to do... I forgot all of that except for the last part." She swats my arm with a frown. "Link!"
"What?" I ask in a teasing voice. "You really want to make me mad huh?" She says getting up off me. "Yeah no.. Not what I was going for." I say sitting up. "Can you pass me my sh-" I get cut off by her throwing my shirt at my face. "Hey! Ok ok I'm sorry!"
"Good." She says putting her clothes on. "Look I didn't know you would get so mad. I'm sorry." I say getting up and giving her a kiss. "Stop.. I can't stay mad at you when you do that." She says annoyed. "Come on, you know you love me." I say, kissing her neck. "Yes I do." She sighs happily. "So want to come back to bed?" I ask not hiding my hope at all. "No." She says bluntly. "Dang!"
"You thought you had me huh?" She laughs. "Yeah.. I kinda did." I say disappointedly. "Ok.. Maybe later.."
"Really?!!"
"No."
"Ugh!!" I say falling back onto the bed. "Why do you do this to me?" I complain. "Because it's fun.. And because I'm still not ready."
