Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed, and two members of the Southern Water tribe discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang. And although his a master air-bender, he still has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But they believe Aang can save the world. I however, am not so sure of that yet. He needs to master all four elements before he can save the world. Right now though, he must save the Northern Water Tribe.
Kiri's POV
The siege of the Northern Water Tribe has started. We have breached part of the wall. Father and I are on the lead ship, while dad talks to Zhao. "I don't need to remind you we have a time limit. If we don't defeat the Water Tribe before the full moon rises, they will be undefeatable" dad reminds him.
"I assure you I have everything under control. I intend to remove the moon as a factor" Zhao states. I stiffen, what does he mean by that?
"Remove the moon? How?" dad asks him shocked.
"Admiral Choi! Prepare to meet your fate!" someone says behind us. I see a water tribe boy in a horrible fire nation disguise, it's so out dated. He charges at Zhao, who casually tosses him overboard as he is still screaming. A loud splash is heard, while Iroh shakes his head in disappointment. While I suppress a giggle, that boy reminds me of Sokka from the water tribe. When he tried to take on my cousin single-handedly.
"As I was saying, years ago I stumble upon a great and powerful secret: the identity of the Moon Spirit's mortal form" Zhao explains like nothing had happened.
"What?" Dad asks surprised.
"I was a young lieutenant serving under General Shu in the Earth Kingdom" Zhao states. "I discovered a hidden library. Underground, in fact. I tore through scroll after scroll. One of them contained a detailed illustration, and the words "moon" and "ocean". I knew then that these spirits could be found and killed" he explains. "And that it was my destiny to do so" he adds.
"Zhao, the spirits are not to be trifled with!" dad snaps. As I ball my fists trying to control my anger. How dare Zhao even think of hurting a spirit. It'd affect more then just the water tribe.
"Yes, yes ... I know you fear the spirits, Iroh. I've heard rumors about your journey into the Spirit World. But the Ocean and Moon gave up their immortality to become a part of our world. And now they will face the consequences" Zhao states. He walks away.
"Dad, we cannot allow this to happen" I state.
"I know Kiri, we will not allow it" he assures me. "Let me handle Zhao, you handle his men" he instructs. I nod my head and we go to prepare for battle. We mount battle rhinos and Zhao leads the way.
"We'll be following this map to a very special location. And when we get there, we're going fishing" Zhao says with a vicious smirk. I glare at the back of his head. We soon reach an oasis and I see two fish swimming in a circle together. They must be Tui and La, the moon and ocean spirits. Why would they take such a vulnerable form?
Zhao grabs Tui from the water, placing it in a sack. The moon goes red, followed by everything else. I share a look with my father, we must act quickly to save the moon spirit. We move silently into position. "I am ... a legend, now!" Zhao declares. "The Fire Nation will, for generations, tell stories about the great Zhao, who darkened the moon. They will call me, Zhao the Conqueror, Zhao the Moon Slayer, Zhao the Invincible!" he rants. Suddenly a lemur jumps onto his head. "Ugh ... Get it off!" he shouts.
It flies up and glides to the other side of the pond. Where the avatar and his friends are. I notice a girl with white hair. Is she like me? Was she saved by a spirit as well? "Don't bother" Zhao sneers threatening to kill Tui. Who is still struggling in the bag.
"Zhao, don't!" Aang shouts lowering his staff.
"It's my destiny, to destroy the moon and the Water Tribe" Zhao states.
"Destroying the moon won't hurt just the Water Tribe" Aang tells him. "It will hurt everyone, including you. Without the moon, everything would fall out of balance. You have no idea what kind of chaos that would unleash on the world" he explains.
"He is right Zhao" dad states. We have gotten into position.
"General Iroh, why am I not surprised to discover your treachery? Where's your daughter?" Zhao asks. I'm hiding behind his men, ready to attack them.
"I'm no traitor, Zhao, the Fire Nation needs the moon, too; we all depend on the balance. Whatever you do to that spirit I'll unleash on you ten-fold. Let it go, now!" dad orders him. Zhao releases the koi fish into the oasis.
He hesitates before striking the koi fish with a fire slice out of anger. "No!" I shout as dad recoils from the flames. The moon fades out and the world goes gray. Dad starts to attack Zhao, while I attack his men from behind. Surprising them.
Zhao dodges and counters his fire-bending while retreating toward his fire-bending soldiers. Who I swiftly defeat with the help of the avatar and his friend. But Zhao escapes. We all gather around the oasis. Where La circling the now dead Tui.
"We failed" I say tearing up as dad picks up the dead fish. We should of acted quicker.
"There's no hope now, it's over" the white haired girl cries.
"No, it's not over" Aang states going into the avatar state. He enters the water. Aang stands in a meditative stance as La circles him. La's eyes soon light up. Aang descends into the water. Blue lightning-like energy expands from the oasis island into the water. The oasis begins to light up in the same blue color. The energy moves to the edge of the oasis, rising up to form a giant amphibious-like creature, facing out toward the sea, with Aang in the center, controlling it. He goes to attack the fire nation.
"Is there nothing we can do dad?" I ask.
"You have been touched by the Moon Spirit" he says looking at the white haired girl. "As my daughter has been touched by the sun spirit, as some of it's life lives in her. So to does some of the moon spirits' life, lives in you" he states.
"Yes, you're right. It gave me life, maybe I can give it back" she states. She gets up and Sokka grabs her hand.
"No! You don't have to do that" he protests.
"It's my duty, Sokka" she tells him.
"I won't let you" he states. "Your father told me to protect you" he tells her.
"I have to do this" she tells him simply. Her hand slips out of Sokka's as she places her hands on the koi fish. The koi begins to glow and she closes her eyes. She soon falls and Sokka catches her.
"No! She's gone" he cries holding her close. She fades and disappears as the koi begins the light up and glow. Dad places the koi back into the oasis water. The entire lake begins to light up until energy floats up into the air forming an image of the girl.
"Goodbye Sokka, I'll always be with you" she states and kiss him. She disappears as the moon reappears in the sky above glowing brighter then ever. I smile a Tui again swims in a circle, no sign of injury. We had saved it.
Dad and I slip away. We find a boat and gathered some supplies. Soon Zuko appears and I hug him tightly. Glad he is safe. We start to flat away from the Northern Water Tribe. "I'm surprised Prince Zuko, surprised that you are not at this moment trying to capture the Avatar" dad states.
"I'm tired" Zuko admits.
"Then you should rest. A man needs his rest" dad tells him. Zuko lays down and goes to sleep. "You need rest also my daughter" he tells me.
"You sure you can handle sailing alone?" I ask. He nods his head. I lay beside Zuko and soon drift off to sleep.
