Forbidden Territory (warrior cats fan fiction)

Chapter 2

Rose was awoken the next morning by beams of light through a canopy of leaves. She forced her eyes open. Just to see an empty den. She clambered up on to shaky knees and stumbled to the entrance. As she peered around the clearing there was next to no cat around there. The only cats were Lightningpaw and her brother Tawnyrock.

"Would you like to go hunting with us?" Asked Tawnyrock curiously.

"Um I haven't really ever hunted before." said Rose shakily.

"I'm sure she will, she seems to get everything right." stated Lightningpaw spitefully.

Tawnyrock cuffed her behind the ears. In reply she hissed and bolted down the hole. Tawnyrock followed and so did Rose. She was released into the forest air in which was completely new to her. As they raced through the leafy greenery Rose didn't realise how big it actually was. Then as it was in her dream the morning before she felt a movement under paw. A swift brown shape scuttled through the lush green growths. Rose stay in a low crouch.....wait she thought. Then she sprung . With one strike the small creature lay limp on the floor.
"Nice catch!" Meowed the spiteful she cat, but Rose detected no spite in her voice. How odd one moment she's nice then the next she is not...why?  she Wondered.
After her comment Lightningpaw swiftly escaped from the non-existent conversation.
There had been a good catch that day and Rose was just strolling back to camp when she smelt a warm familiar scent. Tawnyrock came to her side."I know it is scary going into a new clan. I was born in Fireclan that means not many of the clan likes me."
"What! I thought Lightningpaw was your sister?"
"She is she also came from Firecan, that's why Mossystar was so cold to her when we first met."
Rose felt her stomach clench with nerves. He was so much like her!
"Lightningpaw will never forgive our mother, but also she will no settle into Earthclan."
"That is true." Sated a small voice from behind... it was Lightningpaw. Tawnyrock looked round in surprise. Had he spilled one of Lightningpaw's secrets to her? "Stay away from him!" hissed the black she-cat.

Rose found her way back to camp where she dropped the mouse on a pile of what looked like more small animals.

"That is the fresh kill pile it's where we put all of our food. Well done on the catch, not many of us catch a plump mouse like that our first hunting trip." congratulated a small black-tabby tom.

"I am Brightpool, Gravelpaw's mentor," he said.

"Oh hello," Rose dipped her head in respect at the older tom.

"I will give you a tour of the camp if you like?" he suggested.

"yes please," sated Rose eagerly.

Firstly was the apprentices den which she recognized from the night before it was made from a thick mass of twigs, brambles, moss and long grasses. They moved along to a larger den which was entirely made of brambles and thistles there was a tiny entrance which Rose didn't even think she could squeeze through. This was the nursery. The next den was twiggy and mossy den which was the senior warriors'.

"senior warriors - like me- sleep here. Next to the Leader so we can defend her when needed."

Next was a small den beside the Tall Rock. It have a boulder over half of the entrance but Rose sneaked a look and in there was a neatly laid out nest which was extremely big and a small patch of leaves for fresh kill.

"This is were Woodfoot and his mate, Barleypelt, sleep with their kits. That's why we put the boulder over the entrance ." Explained Brightpool. Rose looked in again a noticed a mass of Golden Brown fur laying in the nest. Right under the rock in the centre of that side was a slightly larger den with ivy hanging over the entrance. It was so thick that Rose couldn't see through it.

"This is Mossystar's den we leave her to herself so that she can think about the day or talk to Swiftstride. Next to her den was another well protected den. This was the elders' den for he saw elderly, weak cats inside. Beside it was a large den.

"This is the young warriors' den. When you finish your apprenticeship you will come to sleep here with your new warrior name." Rose suddenly felt excited for her future in the clan.

"Come with me. This is Swiftstride's den he lives here with Rookpaw his apprentice," stated Brightpool. Rose peered into the den there where two neat nests lay closely together.

A small voice came from behind them.

"Excuse me?" asked a small black cat. Rose stared at her as she skulked into the den and settled herself down.

"Who was that?" inquired Rose.

"That is Rookpaw the apprentice medicine cat. She has just had to deal with Smallsmille's night shift. He has food poisoning again," stated Brightpool unhappily.
After that den came another full of stone shelves. A herby aroma came from it. A black and white cat was inside busy at work storing green leaves and shaking out seeds from plants.

"Oh hello, you must be the new apprentice. Do you know your mentor?" questioned the cat still with his back turned.

"H....how did you know I..I was here" said Rose shakily.

" I scented you. It was easy!".

" Thats something you need to work on. Also Swiftstride Rose has not yet decided to stay in the clan and she hasn't told Mossystar yet!" explained Brightpool

"Follow me Rose I want to show you two very important parts of the clan."

Rose followed him to a rock. It was the rock that Mossystar had addressed the clan from.

"This is the tall rock Mossystar speaks to the clan from. When you become a warrior you will go the the top with her and she will give you your warrior name."

"Next to it is the fresh kill pile this is where all of the prey that the Warriors and apprentices kill go. We go in order of importance Firstly it goes to the Elders then the Nursing queens then the rest of us."

After Rose had her tour the she felt worn out. She slinked into her nest.... She dozed for a while listening to the buzz of voices outside.

Rose felt a sharp prod in her belly. It was Mossystar.
"Have you decided to stay in the clan yet? Join me in my den in a minute." She said.
Rose took a second to compose herself and strode over to a small cave with ivy covering the entrance.
"Enter!" called Mossystar from the inside.
" I need to talk to you. Have you decided to join the clan? Or not?" She asked getting straight to the point.
There was a long pause for Rose was still working out how to say it.............
"Well....." Mossystar pressed.
"Yes Mossystar I would like to join the clan, only if it is alright with you?" Replied Rose.
"Of corse it is alright." Mossystar said shocked.
"Thank you my leader I will serve this clan well!"
