I can't believe it.
My second book is done.
....
It feels as it did when I finished the first. The same wonder, the same mixed feelings at the finish line, the same gratitude.
Checkmate has been more challenging in many ways. I can only hope that I told Lio and Xent's story well, despite all of that.
I am so very grateful to the small band of readers who have been so patient, who waited for me to return from my long break and who have continued reading, encouraging and supporting all the way through. You're the reason I finished this book.
When I wrote Hide & Seek, I had no idea it would evolve and erupt the way it has, or how far into the Clanlands I would end up. It's been one hell of a journey.
And it's not over yet.
Checkmate is done.
But Lio and Xent are not.
You see, stories don't always start where we think they do.
And every avalanche starts with one stone.
