After the allied races defeated the dragons in the great Dragon Wars, a heavy silence fell over the wounded lands of Terras. The victors turned inward, focusing on rebuilding their own kindoms and healing ancient wounds.
Osius the Trickster God, who had remained neutral during the wars, grew bored with the stagnant peace that followed. He longed to stir up the complacent order that had formed among the elder races like elves and dwarves.
So Osius created a new race to act as "catalysts of change" - the humans. He imbued them with curiosity, ambition and drive to shake the elder races from their lethargy. Osius brought humans into being suddenly, seeding the first human tribes near the borders of the ancient elven forests.
Eventually, greed for land and wealth drove the humans to expand rapidly. Entering the elven woods, each race saw the other with wonder - but also distrust. Trade began slowly, as neither fully trusted this new kind.
The boisterous, energetic humans clashed immediately with the solemn elves. Conflict arose as humans settled lands the elves considered sacred. quickly outpaced the slow-aging elder races in population and expansion. Their thirst for knowledge and drive for innovation led to new technologies that began altering the world.
Though humans prayed to Osius, Vata and Daros for favor, they remained wary of Osius' trickster nature. They distrusted his motives for creating them, yet embraced the curiosity and inventiveness he had gifted them. advancement eventually balanced and blended with the elder races' wisdom, bringing about a new age of prosperity and partnership between humans, elves, dwarves and others across Terras.
Osius the Trickster - Osius is the creator god of the humans, representing curiosity, innovation and disruption. He is a mercurial deity who toys with humans for his own amusement. While humans pray to Osius for favor, they are never sure when he may play a trick on them.
Vata the Earth Mother - Vata is the human goddess of fertility, nurturing and stability. She is appealed to through agricultural rituals and ceremonies celebrating the bounty of the land.
Daros the Scholar - Daros is the human god of knowledge, letters and the intellect. He is the patron of mages, scholars and philosophers among humanity.
War God - Bellum is the god of war, battle and conquest among humanity. He represents the martial spirit, strength of arms and thirst for glory in battle. Generals and warriors pray to Bellum for victory in conflicts, making blood sacrifices to awaken his favor.
Glory Goddess - Gloria is the goddess of renown, honor and glory. She rewards brave deeds and great achievements, bestowing fame and adoration upon her followers. Warriors seek her favor after triumphs in battle, while kings build monuments to Gloria for the glory of their realms.
Justice God - Justitia is the blindfolded goddess of justice, fairness and moral order. She punishes the wicked and rewards the righteous, balancing the scales between good and evil. Judges and magistrates invoke Justitia's name when passing sentences, seeking her blessing for impartial decisions.
Light Goddess - Lux is the radiant goddess of light, purity, healing and hope. She stands opposed to darkness in all its forms. Priests of Lux spread her teachings of goodness, truth and selfless service. Her temples serve as beacons of light in dark times
When Osius created the first humans, curiosity and ambition took seed in the land. Isolated for generations, the small tribes lived simply - unaware of the wider world.
As human towns turned into cities, tensions arose. Their boisterous ways disrupted elven peace. Conflict erupted when plow and ax fell upon lands the elves held sacred. Though lives were lost on both sides, humans swiftly repopulated.
