Sitting in an fighter jet, was exciting every one knew that, being able to fly one was a privilege and an honor that wasn't granted to every one. Diana Jackson probably knew this best. Being the first women to ever make it through the Naval Academy, and the first female fighter pilot.
Diana Jackson was the kind of pilot that could be taken as an example how to not do things, but that exactly was her speciality, her flying style was as dangerous, and reckless as it was captivating, pulling everybody in who saw her up in the sky. It was what made her one of the best pilots of her generation and the Navy knew that. Diana Jackson, the first ever female fighter pilot of the Navy, was in their eyes a perfect choice for the upcoming Top Gun class of 1986.
Tom Kazansky was the complete opposite of her when it came to the way of flying, wich didn't mean that they made less of a team, his motto was "ice cold, no mistakes" and he made sure he followed it in every single situation, wich also made him, alongside his RIO Ron Kerner, a perfect choice for the upcoming Top Gun class.
Diana Jackson and Tom Kazansky were a force to reckoned with. Up in the sky they were a deadly, on the ground even worse, they lived after the motto hurt one and the other will happily help them bury you. The Navy's golden couple as they were called behind their backs.
Top Gun was not ready for those two, and will never be.
