I sighed sitting in my 1969 Dodge Charger in the back of the parking lot. It's my first day at Beacon Hills and it's my senior year. The move here was a long one. At least I didn't have much to travel with so that made it easier. I was able to find a job out here before I moved that way it made it easier for me once I got here. Seeing everyone pass by me talking to their childhood friends made me uneasy. I would be the outcast here. I did make a few heads turn, mostly guys because of my car. I mean I wouldn't blame them I would look and stare at it too if I saw one. My dad passed this down to me before he passed. He had some money but I didn't want to use it. I kept it in my emergency fund in case something happens. My mom died when I was a baby due to complications from giving birth to me. My dad died from cancer about a year ago. There was nothing left for me back there and it was time for me to move on.

I grabbed my bag with everything I needed for school. I got out and locked the doors. I don't trust people, never have. I had my sunglasses on so people couldn't see where I was looking. I walked into the building and found my way to the office to grab what I needed and all the paperwork. I arrived a bit earlier so I could get this done quickly. The secretary handed me everything I needed and quickly read through the paperwork and signed where needed. But when it asked for Emergency Contacts I paused. I skipped passed that and finished my paperwork. She went over it to make sure I had everything signed.

"You forgot to write your emergency contacts," she said handing me the paperwork back.

"I don't have anyone, just me," I handed her a copy that I had with me from the court about being on my own.

"Oh okay dear I will make a note of that in your paperwork. Let me get a copy of this real quick and I'll be right back," she said just before standing.

"You're okay, it's a copy. You can keep it in the school records. I assume all my stuff transferred over perfectly fine from my old school?"

"Okay. Yes, everything transferred over to us. Looks like you don't need many credits left before graduating. Top of your class as well and haven't gotten into trouble so I shouldn't expect to see you in here anytime soon for anything bad," she said giving me a wink.

"I usually keep to myself so it's kind of hard to get into trouble alone, especially in a new area," I said with a small smile. I tend to get along with teachers and staff more than I did students.

"I see it'll be your birthday next month. Happy Early Birthday."

"Thank you, Mam," I said grabbing my paperwork and class schedule before finding where my locker will be. I don't plan to use it much, what's the point when I'll only be using it for one year?

I looked at the paper and looked at the lockers around me to get an idea of which way to go. I was almost there. There it was '1209'. I looked at the combination and opened my locker. It was kind of small compared to my old school. I shuffled through my bag and grabbed what I didn't need before lunch and put it in my locker. Before I shut it to go to my first class two guys showed up next to me. They were both about the same height, taller than me, and both had short brown hair and brown eyes. One was more pale than the other. The paler one leaned on the lockers next to the other guy next to me.

"You're new here, aren't you? I'm Scott McCall, and this is Stiles," he said introducing them to me. I was kind of shocked that they even talked to me.

"Hi, I'm Jade Dusk," I said putting out my hand. He grabbed it and shook it. I always gave a hard stern shake to guys and it always took them off guard not expecting a girl to shake hands like a guy. Thanks to my dad. I shut my locker door. "I guess I'll see you guys around then."

"Yea we'll see you around," he said with a short wave back at me.

As I was talking to my first class someone almost dropped a book before I was able to catch it before it fell. They didn't even notice until it was already in my hand. They thanked me and I kept walking. I finally found my class and headed toward the back as everyone else started finding their seats. I got out a notebook and pen for class.
