A little girl running for her life. The rain poured on her, mixing with the uncontrollable tears flowing down her pale face. There were no crowds, no vehicles, no one to help her. And so, she ran; hoping that she could find someone to help her. The only sounds she could hear were her heavy breaths, beating heart, splashing footsteps, and occasional sobs.
Where am I supposed to go now? I can't go back there. . .he'll just do it all again.
Unsaid thoughts kept repeating again and again. She stopped running to put her hands on her head, it ached as a voice whispered ridicules and threats. It kept going until she shook with anxiety.
You useless child.
Her legs became wobbly which made her fall to the ground, hands still on her head. More of her outcries were heard as the rain became heavy.
It's no use running away. He'll find you.
The splash of rain masked the steps advancing to the frail female. The silhouette of a man with an umbrella approached her; he put it over her head.
She felt his presence and panicked. Her hands trembled even more at the fact he was inches close to her. With a little courage, she turned to the man. His face was indistinct because of the lack of lights around them. He held the umbrella tightly as he looked down at her. Not seeing his expression, the girl panicked; is he going to hurt her?
As the man put his hand out, she flinched; waiting for the blow and dreading it. Instead, however, his hand stayed put. Seeing her reaction to his slight movement made him tighten his hold more on his umbrella. He then spoke lowly, trying to seem kind to calm her down, "Are you alright?"
Hearing his inquiry, she looked up at him with glistening eyes. "Help. . ." she muttered faintly but hoped he heard her as her vision started to cloud and her consciousness vacated.
-----
A girl with a past haunting her every day, using a facade to keep her head high; a boy with a temper to also conceal himself. Two teenagers with the same goal---to be the best.
It's a wonder how they could be similar yet dissimilar. Their attributes complement one another. She had a gentle, sweet, and menacing ambiance. While he had an aggressive, more menacing one.
His eyes gazed at her with hatred and curiosity, it made her blood boil. So she looked back at him with a glare that displayed the same hatred and less curiosity. Their heated eye contact brought tension to the room; no one dared to get in their way.
-----
"I don't like you," she began while focusing on her work. He turned to glimpse at her. Even with a degrading sentence she still looked as kind as ever; also attractive, but he would never admit it out loud.
Her hair had fallen and flowed down to her shoulders but it didn't prevent her from keeping track with her written notes. She held her pen tightly---jotting down whatever was necessary---and the way her eye color was visible with the lighting made him feel a flare of warmth flood to his cheeks.
But besides, it was already red before when she first poked her tongue out due to concentration.
As he spun around, she skimmed at him. It was her turn to stare. In just a few seconds she had memorized his facial expression; the way he looked tranquil while typing on his laptop, his lips slightly pouting, and his vermillion eyes stared at the screen with such fixation made her heart melt.
All those thoughts were quickly turned down with her shaking her head. And upon realizing that she had an incomplete sentence she hastily continued, "Though I have to put that aside for now. I want to ace this."
He let out a 'tch'; one of his typical responses to everything. It's a wonder how he graduated from primary school with a limited, kind of non-verbal vocabulary. Regardless, it made him unique. And his whole nature had intrigued her. How did he become closed up like that?
-----
Plenty of people thrive to be number one. Such as half of the students in class 1-A, especially Omori Mira and Bakugo Katsuki. They will do everything they can to achieve their goal, no matter what it takes.
As they compete with each other, they'd be preoccupied to notice something blooming gradually between them.
----- author's note: HELLO READERSS!! ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
Welcome to suburban legends! (previous gold rush)This chapter is a sort of prologue and overall description of the story.
Firstly---yes, this is mostly inspired by mother Taylor's song. It tickles a certain part of my brain, haha.
Secondly---I'd like to inform you all that English isn't my native language, so please excuse any grammatical errors.
Thirdly---I'm a busy person. A schedule for updates won't be available because of that. Sometimes I forget that I have Wattpad (●'⌓'●). Also, I have school work, household chores, and a social life. All those together should be a valid reason for slow updates, right?
And lastly---please vote and comment! It gives me motivation to write more. I adore knowing others' opinions in my work, it helps me improve.
I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK!! \ (>0<) /
