Hello there! Today, we bring you the POTM for July: Restoring Balance by @RainyFantasy. The story's about The Stone of Light, the Pokemon world's main source of life. The stone was hidden away in a village, guarded by Pokemon; however, one day, Giratina stole the stone, bringing darkness to the world. A Ninetails by the name of Elena was the world's only hope. Albeit only two parts are posted, the originality is immense!
Title: Restoring Balance
Author: RainyFantasy
What Genres/Emotions The Story Elicits: Mystery, sadness, and a little bit of suspense, comedy, and - from our fan theories - romance.
Other Comments: The plot is very creative and original! Pokemon personalities are also extremely detailed and vivacious (E.g. Ninetails - Elena - is sassy yet loyal and kind to her friends.) The story's very interesting, making you want to know what happens next! Simply a splendid Pokemon fanfic that hopefully gets updated soon.•••
The interview with Rainy ended up being very relaxed yet professional. As this was Admin Gren's first time ever interviewing someone, she had a blast!
For our first question, we asked the creative author, "How do you think of your story ideas? Do you have any specific hobbies or activities that get your brain's creativity flowing?" Rainy answered back, "For me the best way to think of ideas for my stories is probably not to try too much to look for them. I get mine randomly actually! I usually get them while traveling. Fun fact: I got a few great ideas for my other book 'TID' while sitting in the car! What also really helps me to get ideas when needed is to draw, and that's usually when I'm at my most creative point, so that's when cool ideas might come flowing in." A good example as to not stress too much over planning!
Next, because of her elaborate character personalities, FT asked, "How do you write having your characters' personalities in mind? Do you have that Pokemon's/persons' traits written down or what?" Rainy replied to us with a completely unexpected answer: "That's a good question... To be honest, I don't really plan out what my characters' personalities will be like. I did do that in my first book to help me out, but I didn't do that for Restoring Balance. This is mostly because I prefer to discover the main character's personality while writing and letting the character react to different situations. After writing a few chapters, I usually know what the character's personality is and will be throughout the rest of the book. I do kind of have an idea of the personalities in my head when I start writing, but I'd rather not write them down, because I feel like that gives me limited options. But I guess that's just personal preference."
Knowing how talented this author is and how far she could get in her career, we asked a relatively serious question: "What are your goals for writing? Do you have any specific dreams involving this art?" Rainy answered, "One of my main goals would be to increase my English vocabulary, as well as improve my grammar. Since English isn't my native language, I find it pretty hard to find the right words to describe situations, but writing pushes me to look for those interesting or new words. As for the grammar part, my native language is quite different from English and I sometimes get the grammar rules or punctuation messed up. I hope I'll learn from my mistakes and that writing in English will become easier for me the more I do it.
Another goal is to just share the stories I come up with. This is the most important one for me. No matter how my grammar or spelling would end up being in a book, I'm satisfied whenever I hear someone enjoyed the story anyways. I can't explain how happy that makes me :) I want to let people experience the worlds and adventures of my characters, just like I experience and picture them in my head." Certainly a beautiful goal to have... You go, Rainy!
To wrap up this interview, we asked, due to the author's detailed way of writing, "Are there any books that inspire you to write? (Published or Wattpad alike)" She answered us, "I definitely have some! The main series of books that is probably one of my favorites ever... Are the books in the Harry Potter series. Seriously, I love everything about these books, especially the way they make you experience the world the writer created.
As for Wattpad, I have many, but I'll name a few:
'Flaming Dreams' by FloralArtistry.
'Black' by Grenineon.
'Blue Lightning' by PikaChick.
'I Hate Everything About You' by Master_Of_Illusions.
Like I said, I have many more, but these are just the ones I could think of right now. ^-^"

That's a wrap! Unfortunately, because of her summer coming to an end, Admin Lumi will not be active. A totally respectable decision, but it'll be sad without her. We decided on this Pokéfic a few weeks ago, so she is slightly aware of us using it! Thanks for reading, and we'll see you again in August!
