CHAPTER ONE

As Taliah turned her attention to the big screen, she couldn't help but cry. Her best friend and her girlfriend were both graduating. She was extremely proud of both of the girls, but she couldn't keep her mind off of one thing. The long distance.

Taliah knew long distance would never work out. She knew she would have to cut things off with her girlfriend, but she didn't want to ruin her special day.

Taliah had known her best friend for her entire life. They were always together, but that was about to change since Taliah was a grade below both her girlfriend and best friend.

As Emily Engstler walked across the stage, Taliah immediately got up and cheered as loud as she could, smiling once she saw Emily's cheeks turn a crimson red.

When she saw her girlfriend walk across the stage, she couldn't help but cry. She knew this was the last time they would see each other.

As the ceremony came to an end, Taliah ran to her best friend and engulfed her into a tight hug. When Emily looked down, she couldn't help but tear up at the sight of her best friend crying.

"Tills, it's okay, I'm still here, don't be dramatic," Emily said, trying to lighten up the mood.

As Emily turns around, she notices a familiar face waiting to get a moment with the teary-eyed girl.

"Hey, Tills, I think there's someone that needs to talk to you."

Taliah knew who was waiting for her, she just didn't want it to be her. She didn't want to end it, but she knew she had to.

"Hey, Cait," she said with a sad smile as she walked over to her girlfriend.

Taliah stood in front of Caitlin, noticing the confused look on her face. Normally they would instantly run to each other and kiss, but this time, they only stood in front of each other.

"Is everything okay?" She asked.

Taliah couldn't bare to make eye contact with Caitlin, she knew it would be too painful.

"Um, Cait, I've been thinking a lot recently. About us. I want you to succeed. I want you to make it. And you can't do that with me holding you back. We can't make this work, Cait. I still have another year left here. Please don't say anything. I'm sorry."

Taliah quickly walked away from her, not turning back when Caitlin called out to her. She knew it was whats best for both of them.

Emily quickly hugged her best friend, since she had seen everything from afar.

"It's okay, Tills. It was the right thing to do."

Taliah tightened her grip on Emily,

"I know. I'm really gonna miss you, Em."

Emily smiled and said, "I'm gonna miss you too, but I'll see you next year. I'm gonna put in a good word for you so you can be the manager for our team."

Taliah couldn't wait to graduate.
