July 7th

Harry had Ruby on strapped to his chest as he made his family breakfast. Louis was in France with his sister Lottie enjoying time away from his kids. Harry had suggested he take some time for himself after he witnessed firsthand what Louis had to go through day by day. The kids were constantly on top of Louis. It was on the last two days of the trip and Harry was ready for his husband to get home.

"Matty and Luke, what do you want to do for your ninth birthday party?" Harry asked as he flipped a pancake. The first set of the twins were sitting at the island playing a game on the laptop.

"Minecraft theme," Lucas said. His brother made a disgusted face as he shook his head.

"Spider-man dad, don't listen to him," Mathew said,"we had a Minecraft birthday last year," he added.

"We can do both. Mum has put the planning of your birthday to me, and we're going to do something awesome," Harry smiled when the pancake came out perfect. He made twenty pancakes, and he wasn't sure if it was going to be enough,"can you tell your siblings breakfast is ready?"

Mathew rolled his eyes as he jumped off the bar stool and suck his head out the kitchen archway,"BREAKY IS DONE!" He shouted. Harry flinched at the loud noise.

"Mathew, I could have done that. Go and tell them it is done," Harry said. He grabbed one pancake and started to cut it up for Penny. It wasn't long before he heard shuffling off feet and butts sitting in seats, but when he looked up, only the younger kids were there,"where's the other half?" Harry asked Mathew.

Mathew sighed as he sat next to his twin,"HJ and and the triplets were still sleeping and Andi said she isn't eating breakfast today because her dance competition is today. Babe is...I don't know where she is."

"What does dance have to do with breakfast?" Harry mumbled to himself. He made plates for everyone as he pondered about the correlation of dancing and breakfast,"I'll just have to call Lou about that one."

"No daddy!" Leo screeched as he pushed the plate away. Harry was dumbfounded by his six year old,"I want my cakes square."

"Leo, pancakes are circles not squares. There's not much I can do," Harry tried to keep his voice at a low level. Leo did not like that answer and fell backwards in his chair and started to cry. His red face had tears streaming down them,"what in the actual," Harry cut himself off before he finished that sentence. Leo's screaming caused a chain reaction. Every child that was under the age of six was crying.

HJ and Andi came running into the kitchen with hands over ears,"dad, you have to cut Leo's pancakes into a square!" Andi shouted over all the yelling. She grabbed the plastic yellow plate and started to cut away. HJ grabbed Penny and started to rub her back. She settled down after awhile. While the two oldest kids were at work Harry made two bottle of frozen milk for the twins. As he started at the bottle warmer this was a reminder to him why he started to drink.

It took thirty minutes before everyone was calm and eating. Harry was currently on the phone with his mum trying to understand what just happened,"I know toddlers are picky about how their food is cut, but he is six years old."

"He probably misses Louis," Anne said. Harry could her pans clinking on the other end of the phone,"do you want me to come over today?"

"Please mum. How did he do this?" Harry asked with shame coating his voice. How did he let Louis do all of this? Louis was a single, married mum. It embarrassed Harry that his two oldest could take better care of the youngest then he ever could. Harry was an absent father.

"Harry, Louis is strong. Stronger than you will ever be," Anna sighed. He heard some shuffling over the phone,"he has been through a lot. Louis understands what it is like to have an absent father, and he never wants that for himself children. He can only do so much, love."
