A door opens

Wood creaks

A cradle was seen

A baby cried

Then a mother's cry was heard all over the house

You shot up from your bed, looking at the clock in the table beside you, it read 3:48 AM. You then looked at Enid and Wednesday who were still asleep. Then you got up and prepared your uniform then went to the bathroom.

You were both an early bird and a night owl. Always sleeping late at night, usually every 10:00 PM or 12:00 PM, then you would wake up at 2:00 AM or 3:00 AM.

You turned the shower on and stood there, gazing at the mirror on your bathroom before starting to clean yourself up. Once you were done, you turned off the shower, got out, went to put on your uniform and dried your hair.

You then head towards your desk to continue your writing. your nightmare being the source of main ideas for events in chapter 3.

[scene changes to Wednesday, it is now morning]

A door opens and Wednesday walks inside a room full of fencers.

A foil clatters

A fencer grunts

Another fencer grunts

"Coach, coach, she tripped me." A boy in white fencing gear said to his coach as he was down on the floor and stood up.

"It was a clear strike, Rowan." The coach said to the boy.

"Maybe if you whined less and practice more, you wouldn't suck." A girl spoke to the boy as she took off her fencing mask. She then asks the other fencers, "Anyone else want to challenge me?"

"I do." Wednesday spoke up.

"Oh, you must be the psychopath they let in." The girl said to Wednesday, to which Wednesday replied.

"You must be the self-appointed Queen Bee." Wednesday's statement made the girl agree with her, that was 'till Wednesday again spoke "Interesting thing about bees. Pull out their stingers, they drop dead."

[scene changes to you]

You watched as the two talked before they prepared themselves for their match. You watch as they both grunt and avoid each other's foils.

"Point to Wednesday." The coach said as Wednesday pointed her foil at the girl.

Before they could even have a final match, you left the room. Not wanting to see any of their childish fight. Their fight looked like a childish fight to you. But to the others, it's different. For them, it's entertaining.

[scene changes to Wednesday]

Wednesday walked in the rain with her umbrella. She then notices a rumbling right above her; she then heard a boy shout her name. That was when she looked up and got pushed to the stone floor.

[scene changes to Wednesday at the infirmary]

Wednesday woke up from her small period of slumber and saw a boy with brown hair and green eyes in her peripheral vision, then she sat up.

"Welcome back." The boy said. "Just take it easy. the nurse said you don't have a concussion, but you probably have a nasty bump, huh?"

"The last thing I remember I was walking outside feeling a mixture of rage, pity and self-disgust. I never felt that way before." Wednesday said to the boy in front of her.

"Losing to Bianca has that effect on people, I think." The boy said, looking down before gazing up to Wednesday.

"Then I looked up and saw that gargoyle coming down and I thought "At least I'll have an imaginative death." Then you tackled me out of the way. Why?" Wednesday asks the boy and the boy clicked his tounge.

"Call it instinct." The boy said to Wednesday, then Wednesday replied,

"So you were guided by latent chivalry, the tool of the patriarchy, to extract my undying gratitude?" Wednesday said to the boy.

"Mm-hmm. Most people just say thank you." The boy replied.

"I didn't want to be rescued." Wednesday said to the boy.

"I shoulda just let that thing smash you to mush? The boy asks her.

"I would have rather saved myself." Wednesday reasoned out, which made the boy scoff.

"Good to see you haven't changed. If it makes you feel any better, let's just say I returned the favor." The boy said, which surprised Wednesday.

"Xavier Thorpe?" Wednesday asks the boy.

"You probably don't remember me." Xavier said, before continuing. "Last time we met, I was about two feet shorter, 40 pounds heavier."

Wednesday asks, "What happened?"

Xavier exhales before replying, "Puberty, I guess."

"What happened the last time we met?" Wednesday asks Xavier in curiosity.

"Oh. Uh. Yeah, it... it was my grandmother's funeral." Xavier paused looking at you who just entered the infirmary. You motioned for him to continue as you sat down in one of the beds.

"She was friends with your grandmother, and they spent their twenties in Europe, swindling the rich and notorious." Xavier paused, taking a breath before continuing his short story.

"I don't know, but we were ten, and we were bored, decided to play hide and seek. I had the inspired idea to hide in her casket. I got stuck as it was headed to the crematorium." Xavier said.

"I'd heard muffled screams. I just figured your godmother had cheated death and was trying to claw her way out." Wednesday said, remembering some of the events that happened at the funeral.

"Either way, you hit the big red stop button and saved me from being flame-broiled. So... now we're even." Xavier said, ending the story as Wednesday stood up and walked away, leaving only both you and Xavier in the infirmary.

"So, you do know her?" You asked Xaiver and he nodded.

"My gosh, Enid owes me 2 bucks." You said and smiled happily.

"Well, I got to go Xavy. Bye."
