The next morning, Georgia and Thomas walked to school. She hugged him as she dropped him off at his classroom and waved to his teacher before walking the last ten minutes to the highschool.
She took a seat in Mr. Shapiro's class as the girl from yesterday argued with the boy sitting in the front row of Georgia's aisle, "Oh. Drugs are, like, cool now? I didn't realize you were a hillbilly tweaker. Guess you're skinny enough," the girl retorted to the boy with a look of judgement on her face. Georgia continued to pull out her history book and notebook from her bag, pretending not to listen.
"Uh, I'm not skinny. I'm jacked," the boy retorted.
The girl rolled her eyes, "Hmph, for now. Until you morph into your big, fat dad."
"Shut up. My dad's hot!" he defended. Georgia's eyebrows shot up as she searched for her pen in her bag. "You've no idea what he's been through. He has thyroid issues."
Mr. Shapiro finally cut in, "Enough! We talked about this yesterday." He looked between the two of them. "How can we mend the conflict of our past when the conflict of our present rages on?"
"Boo." "That doesn't mean anything."
Mr. Shapiro sent them to the principal's office while Georgia held back a smile at the two sophomores. They were entertaining to listen to. "Sup, Miss Georgia," she heard Trent's voice from the seat behind her. She instantly smiled and turned to face him as Paxton took the seat next to her.
"Hey!" she greeted them.
"We on for lunch?" Trent asked. "The golden trio are required to eat together everyday."
Her heart swelled with joy as she realized she really had made friends quickly. "Yes sir," she answered. He raised his hand to his head in a salute and she did as well. The two of them looked over to Paxton who was looking on in amusement. He realized they were waiting on him and finally raised his hand to his forehead as well with a slight eye roll. They all completed their salute simultaneously as Mr. Shapiro greeted the class.

Georgia's second day went by quickly, to her liking. When she unlocked and opened the door of their home to herself and Thomas, they were greeted with the meowing of an orange cat inside. Thomas dropped his backpack on the floor with a thud and kneeled down in front of the cat, "we're home O'Malley," he told the cat sweetly, gently petting its back and pressing a light kiss between its ears.
Georgia smiled at her brother's sweet action as she locked the front door behind her. She walked the short distance to the dining room and placed her backpack on one of the chairs. "Alexa," she called out to their smart device sitting on the kitchen counter. "Play my Slow Chill playlist, please." The girl made her way into the kitchen as the slow tunes began to play. She pulled out their crockpot and all the ingredients she needed to prepare dinner for the night, knowing their mother wouldn't be home until seven.
She hummed softly along with the music as she chopped vegetables while Thomas pulled out his homework at the dining table. "Georgie," she looked up from what she was doing to her little brother. "Do you know where the crayons are?"
"Umm," she thought aloud, "check the drawer in the entertainment center," she advised. He hopped out of his seat and ran to the living room. "What are you coloring?" she called out to him as she went back to chopping.
"The condiments!" he yelled back.
Georgia's face shifted into confusion when he came back in. "The condiments?"
