*****Swimming was a predicament for Georgia. She was fine when she was around people she felt comfortable with. And it would have been fine with just Trent and Paxton. But she wasn't a great swimmer. It wasn't that she couldn't swim. She just had no endurance when it came to the water and couldn't tread water long enough to comfortably be where she can't stand for more than a moment.
There was also the factor of how she felt about her body. She just always felt so exposed in swimsuits, it felt uncomfortable to her.
That and she had noticed the way a particular blonde boy had been looking at her ever since his arrival.
She didn't hate it. Truthfully, she felt flattered. It wasn't often that boys showed interest in her at her old school. But it did make her incredibly nervous.
After a while of swimming and lots of laughing at the boys who were wrestling in the pool, Georgia decided to sit on the edge with just her feet in the water for a bit. A few moments later, Zoe and Shira joined her to her left. She was a bit shocked, they hadn't spoken to her much since she began attending Sherman Oaks.
"Hi Georgie," Shira said in a somewhat sweet voice as she sat next to her.
Georgia opened her mouth to correct her name, but just settled for a kind, "hi."
Zoe finished settling beside Shira, "I think it's actually Georgia, right?"
Georgia laughed lightly, "Yeah, but Georgie is close enough. You can call me whatever."
Zoe nodded with a smile in her direction. Georgia's attention was drawn away from the girls when a boy appeared from the water directly in front of her, causing her body to jump slightly. Her heart raced as two muscular arms came to rest on either side of her body as water dripped down his chest.
"Hey Luke," her cheeks blushed scarlet.
He shot her a goofy smile. He was so close. "Hey." She grappled for something to say, but her nerves made her brain go blank. "You're not swimming anymore?"
She shook her head, "I'm not a strong swimmer, so I get tired of it quickly."
"You can't swim, G?" Trent yelled across the pool before dunking Marcus under the water.
She laughed, trying to calm her racing heart from the boy in front of her. "I can swim, I'm just not good at it."
Paxton jumped in from beside Trent, "Why didn't you just say so? I'm a great swimmer, I'll teach you!"
She didn't notice the blonde boy's jaw clench in front of her.
"It's okay," she assured. "I am perfectly okay with just sucking."
"Yo, that's what she said!" Trent laughed loudly before being tackled in the water by Marcus.
Georgia rolled her eyes. "Well if you ever change your mind," her eyes drifted back to Paxton. "You can always call me," he winked at her before joining the two roughhousing boys.
The girl went to turn her attention back to Luke, but he was already gone and heading back to the group in the water."Oh." Zoe.
"My." Shira.
"God." Zoe and Shira released the final word together.
Georgia's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "What?" she tilted her head.
Zoe just laughed, "Girl."
"He so wants you," Shira told her.
"Who?"
"Luke!" they whisper shouted together.
"He was like," Shira leaned closer to her. "So jealous of Paxton."
"You should've seen the way his jaw clenched." Zoe's eyes shifted to Luke. "It was like, really sexy."
Georgia laughed. "There's no way. We've barely ever spoken before."
"Well you should start because clearly he is into you."
Georgia's eyes wandered over to Luke who had a bright smile on his face. Maybe she should.
