"Target is in sight." You say into your earpiece.
"Copy. Stand your ground." Your commanding officer replies to you.
You watch your target through your scope and prepare your aim to her head. She's helping civilians and is talking to nearby officers at the scene. This target has been a growing issue to your previous missions but following her assassination in a few moments, she won't be a problem any longer. She has constantly gotten in the way of the organization you follow, so this mission was created to rid of her future disturbances.
She is a common 'hero', known for her time-traveling powers. Because of the chronal accelerator around her chest, she has the ability to control her own time, allowing her to speed it up and slow it down at will. This has made her a difficult target to keep track of.
"Standby. We're still prepping your escape helicopter." You hear him say.
You roll your eyes, "In all my years of work I have never been chased after a successful kill, except by her."
"That doesn't matter, we must always be prepared. You should know this. What if she has allies? " He scolds you.
Just as you were about to respond, you noticed the target was nowhere to be found. Your heart sank.
"She's gone," You jump to your feet, swinging yourself to a higher building nearby.
"What?" He growls.
Once you've obtained higher ground, you jump into action. You try to locate your missing target using your spider goggles. You looked away for a mere second! There's no way she could disappear that fast-
"Madame Web." You hear a spiteful voice say behind you.
Despite your racing thoughts, you try to keep a calm facade. You figured she would notice your presence one way or another.
"Ah," You peek over your shoulder, "we meet again."
She glares at you, "What are you here for now? Sparking up trouble again, are you?"
Everything about you two was contrary. She was short and jumpy, while you were tall and elegant. She had such short hair while you had long dark locks. Her demeanor and accent were loud and chirpy, while yours was seductive and eery.
"Of course not," you shrug, "I was just about to leave."
She scoffs, "I don't think so."
"What's happening? Are you alright? The copter is almost there." Your commanding officer says in your earpiece.
You never break eye contact with the girl and lift your finger to press the mic on. "I am engaged with the target."
"(Y/N)! " He shouts immediately.
You mute the comms to help you focus on your current mission: kill her. And just like that you were on the run from that exact target who chases after you from building to building.
"Ugh! Stop this madness, and just turn yourself in. You know you are in the wrong here!" She shouts from behind you as she dangerously approaches closer to you.
"We are two different people, while your crew is showered in love by the city for your 'justice', we know the truth." You glare, jumping off the building and shooting your line to another.
Your target becomes quiet after that until you hear her shooting her double pistols at you. You curse as your line is broken and you come falling. You turn around to aim your secondary pistol at her only to be faced with a completely different person.
