Weeks had passed since she confessed to loving me. Neither of us said anything or brought it up again. Honestly, we had even started to avoid each other a bit.
It seemed like she had the same issues as me, the fear of getting attached to someone.
Which was kind of funny...
She said she loved me, but still, she was afraid of commitment. My reason wasn't really fear, though. It was the responsibility that would come with it. I would have a girlfriend, a steady girlfriend, while still being her manager.
That could only end in disaster!
Luckily, I was home for a few days. At least over New Year's. After that, I would have to go back to America to be with the girls. But for now, I had a little break.
I was sitting alone on the couch at home. I hadn't had a real family for years. My brother had raised me for a few years until he died when I turned 17.
He died when he was called to military duty. It was a mistake, but out of anger, one of his colleagues shot him. That colleague was, of course, arrested and sentenced.I heard the doorbell ring. With a furrowed brow, I went to the door. My eyes peered through the peephole until I saw a familiar face. Surprised, my mouth opened, and I immediately opened the door.
"Unnie!" I exclaimed joyfully. She took off her black mask and smiled broadly at me. I let her in right away and closed the door. "You're back in Korea?" I asked, astonished, as I looked at the older woman.
Ji-eun smiled at me as she made her way to the refrigerator. She opened it even before taking off her coat. Her forehead furrowed in anger as she looked at me. "Are you living on bread and soju again?" she asked in a motherly tone.
I nervously laughed. "Um... I'm not home for long... just for one week, Unnie," I replied, and Ji-eun shook her head maternally. She sighed as she took out a bottle of soju and two beers.
I smiled immediately. "What do you want to eat?" I asked as I pulled out my phone to order something. As always, she wanted spicy chicken, but I ordered non-spicy chicken for myself. Ever since I had a meal with Yuna and Jisu, I couldn't handle spicy anymore. They didn't eat spicy noodles. They ate spice with noodles.
I placed the order, and we sat down on my couch. My friend made us some drinks after taking off her coat. "So? I could already tell from your message how stressed you are," I heard her say.
I took a sip of my drink. "Oh... are you... only here for that reason?" I asked softly as I looked at the singer. Ji-eun, whom everyone knew as IU, sighed once again. "No. I'm here because I know you're alone. So, tell your Unnie what's stressing you out," she said with a smile as she finished her drink.
I chuckled. She was always so motherly towards me. Was it because of our age difference? Did she feel obligated to take care of me?
"Well... you know that I'm Itzy's manager," I started, and the older woman nodded. Her arm rested on the couch as she turned her body towards me. Nervously, I bit my lip.
I knew I could trust her. She told me everything too.
I swallowed nervously. "I started sleeping with Ryujin and Yeji," I confessed, visibly nervous. Ji-eun's eyes widened. She knew both of them as well. Itzy had made a guest appearance on her show and even at their concert.
"Wait... you mean...?" she trailed off, and my nod silenced her. Wordlessly, she immediately poured the next drink, making one for me as she saw my empty glass.
"It's been going on for almost a year or so," I continued. My hands rested on my thighs as I sat cross-legged on the couch. "Well... and last time, Yeji said she loved me... Ryujin... also tried to say it, but I pretended not to hear," I finished my story.
