Aanya pov
The whole mansion is decorated with fairy light. Even tho its perfect I'm too tired to appreciate it as much I would have done if was wearing some normal clothes not this 5kg dress with make up and tons of hair pin. I'm hella tired but I know I have to wait till all the rituals end.
I felt a hand squeezing mine and I looked at the hand, it was my now sister in laws, ananya bhabhi standing beside me giving me small smile.
"Before coming inside I want my money." A girl a year or two younger than me states, with her palm straighten in front of us with a small teasing smile.
"I'm already too tired don't play now anshika, move aside." Riaan my husband said in deep voice, not glaring at anything now like he was doing on our phera time but still looking intimading. He's handsome I have to give him that, with a sharp jawline which is clean of any beard hair, pink thin lips, a high bridge nose, and cat like eyes with a perfect shape eyebrows, he definitely had some work done with eyebrows. someone nudge me from behind to make me come out of my dream land which is none other than my bhabhi.
"I know dewar ji looking handsome but we are in front of everyone dewrani ji, have some patience. He's all yours."
(Dewar : younger brother in law, dewrani : younger brother in laws wife)
Ananya bhabhi whispered in my ears giving me a teasing smile."Bhai its not fair, im your only cousin and its my right, you can't snatch it away from me." She whined looking at him who just rolled his eyes in response which irritates her more.
"First of all you are not my only cousin and second why will I give you anything to enter my own house?" He asked this time more playfully with a small smile, His eyes glistening with mischievous.
"Chotte Mama jii" (younger maternal uncle) she whined looking at my father in law for help. Who in return gave stern eyes to riaan but anyone can say he's not serious.
"Finee, lut lo mujhe tum aaj" (rob me today) with that he take out some money and gave it to her, which she happily takes and came forward to hug him, next she hugged me and said "welcome home bhabhi."
Home.
Is this my home now?
Weirdly it doesn't feel odd."push this rice fill pot lightly and then place your right foot in this Alta filled copper plate then your left. Okay?" My mother-in-law guided me as I pushed the rice filled pot lightly,This ritual symbolizes the warm welcome of the bride into the groom's house as well as in their heart. It shows that they have accepted her as one of the integral members of their family now. Ananya bhabhi and my husband picked my dress from either side to not ruin it with Alta.
Then the copper plate filled with thin red liquid made of Alta is kept before the me. They asked me to keeps my right foot on that plate and then put my left foot on the plate to get my feet colored with the liquid. Then I put my right leg on the white cloth before me to get my foot print in that. This ritual signifies the entry of goddess laxmi into the house."I know beta you are tired but doing rituals is important too." Said badi maa, understanding visible in her eyes, with a nod from me we moved to the living room, where milk pot was put on a table.
"You both sit on the opposite side of the table" badi maa instructed us.
"Now this game is finding the ring, any of you who find the ring most of the time, will win and have the upper hand in the marriage." Badi maa said with a smile on her face while looking at me.
"Ye sabb bass ek bahana haii, jite jo bhii upper hand shaadi ke baad toh wife ka hi rehta haii." Bade papa said with a little hint of laugh in them. While badi maa started at him with 'shut-up before I make you' look.
Badi maa dropped the ring in the bowl filled with milk and we started finding the ring.
Riaan's hands brushed against mine, sending shivers down my spine. I glanced at him, but he avoided eye contact, his face flushed.
As we searched for the ring, I couldn't help but steal glances at Riaan. His strong jawline, his messy hair, his gentle fingers.
Riaan's fingers closed around the ring first. "Ah-ha!" he exclaimed, his voice barely above a whisper. I smiled, feeling a flutter in my chest.
The next round, I found the ring.
The third round, Riaan's nervousness was palpable. I found myself rooting for him.
When Riaan found the ring again, the room erupted in cheers. His face glowed with triumph, and our eyes met for a fleeting moment.
The final round arrived. Riaan's hands trembled as he searched. Our hands touched, and I felt a spark.
Riaan's fingers closed around the ring once more. The crowd cheered, and I smiled.
As we lifted our hands from the milk, Riaan accidentally splashed droplets on my face. "Oh no!" he apologized.
I giggled, my eyes locking onto his. Riaan's face softened.
With trembling hands, Riaan wiped the milk from my face. Our eyes held, and for a moment, the world disappeared.
It was just us in the moment, I couldn't even look at him, but soon the bubble of our moment brust when we heard chorus of 'awws'.
"You can continue it in your room, for now let her go." Maa said with a teasing smile.
"Ananya take her to riaans room." Badi maa told bhabhi in response she just nodded and held my hand.
