"We should get married," West speaks up one random Thursday afternoon.

"Why? Don't you want to pay for your meal?" The pair were currently sitting in their favourite booth at a cafe they had quickly become regulars at. It had become a fun thing in their friendship for them to fake proposals when they were bored and usually, it resulted in a free meal as some form of 'congratulations'.

"No, I just think it would be fun," he shrugs, stealing one of Giselle's fries and popping it in his mouth. "I mean, why not, right?" The way he says it is so casual, as if this were the most typical thing to suggest.

Giselle blinks at him in disbelief. "Fake marriage proposals are one thing, but to actually legally get married? Why on earth would we do that? We're not even in a romantic relationship."

"Why not? I mean, I'd be a pretty good husband. I'd argue, maybe even the best spouse to ever walk this earth."

"I'm pretty sure I would make a better spouse than you," Giselle swats his hand away as he goes to take another fry from her plate.

West frowns and leans back, crossing his arms. "Oh, really? And what makes you think that?"

"Well, for starters," Giselle says with a mischievous grin, "I can actually cook. Remember that one time you tried to make dinner and almost set my kitchen on fire?"

"Hey, that was an isolated incident!" West protests, a playful glint in his eyes. "Besides, I bring plenty of other talents to the table."

Giselle raises an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "Oh yeah? Do tell."

"I give great hugs," West says, leaning in closer. "I'm a great listener. I always hear you out, even when you won't shut up about some random pretty girl you met in passing, do not get me started on your Amanda rants. I also make the best tea, even Queen Lizzy would be begging for more. Need I go on?"

Giselle lets out a laugh and she playfully nudges his shoulder. Her brain scanning through the pro's and cons of actually potentially going through with this.

"Okay, let's say I accept your lame attempt at a marriage proposal. I bet you would back out before we even made it to the alter."

West feigns offence as he dramatically presses his hand to his forehead, collapsing in his seat. "Oh I wouldn't dream of backing out. In fact, I would be willing to bet on the fact that you would back out before me." He smirks.

A strange energy spreads through the air, both of them scanning each other as they try to figure out how far the other is willing to take this. They sit in silence for a moment before Giselle speaks up.

"You and me. The courthouse. Tonight. Then we will see how serious you are about this."

"I'll be in my uncle North North's best hand-me-down suit. Because I am so serious about this." She eyes him playfully. Surely once they made it to the courthouse he would back out. He wouldn't commit to marrying her as a joke, right?

West raises an eyebrow, his smirk widening into a mischievous grin. "Oh, you think I'm bluffing, don't you, Giselle? Well, I'm not. I'll be there, ready to say 'I do', suit and all. Unless you decide to back out first, of course."

Giselle's playful expression falters slightly, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her features. She had never expected West to be so determined, so willing to go along with this spontaneous idea. But deep down, a part of her wanted to see how far he was willing to take this.

"Okay," she outstretches her hand for him to shake. "You're on. But first, you need to give me a proper proposal. I want to see you down on one knee, ring in hand."

He takes her hand and shakes it firmly, his smirk not faltering for even a second. "Okay, I can do that. But, you have to make the biggest scene when I do. I want everyone around us to believe we are so deeply in love and this is the best day of your life. Maybe even throw some tears in there."

"Oh you are so on."

"Good thing I always keep a ring in my pocket then." He gets up from his seat, hand reaching into his pocket to grab the small box. "Because this is happening right now so be ready, I want the whole cafe to cheer afterwards." Giselle just rolls her eyes, a small smile toying on her lips as she lightly shoves him out of his seat.

"Well go on, woo me."

"Give me five minutes and I will be sweeping you off your feet, trust me. This is going to be our best proposal yet." And with that, West leaves the table, disappearing around the corner and heading to where Giselle assumes will be the front counter. This will definitely be interesting.

Minutes tick by and Giselle feels a mix of amusement and anticipation bubble inside of her. She had absolutely no idea what West could be planning but she was excited to find out. She had no intention of backing out of this little bet they had going on, not before West did anyways.

She hears commotion in the distance, and she knows she needs to get her game face on. They were going to make this as convincing as possible, and she was all in.

The all too familiar tune of 'Let's Do This' pulses through the speakers and Giselle hears a few people start murmuring to each other. This was definitely going to be interesting.
