ANNABELLE

Over the months Niall hadn't been that attentive to my blabbering, but this day, this month he had been heedful to every syllable I spoke, profusely. In our conversations at Eat, he'd talk to me like I was the only person left on Earth. His undivided attention would send my senses into overdrive.

Little by little, I guess, I was developing a small microscopic crush on him.

"You said you were specializing in cardio?" Suddenly jolted down by that question. Uh.

"Yeah"

"I have a cardiologist in my mind. She runs a polyclinic. You should give that a try."

"Niall, I haven't YET specialized in cardiology. I just have a MBBS degree and an MD in Cardio. But anyways you could suggest her after 2 years, my training years." I said emphasizing over the word 'yet'.

He arranged the cooked macaroni pasta and took out the the sauce bottles from the shelf arranging them properly over the kitchen table next to where I sat. "Oh so you've come for DM thing?"

"Yeah"
And then if I choose a perfect guy, might as well settle down or go back to Illinois.

He hummed in response, at which my lips quirked into a small smile.

"I have to drive down today, I need to collect some files today" Niall covered the lasagne with a metal dome cover, which he had carefully baked for the past 20 minutes.

"You mean country - side?" I sounded somewhat thrill.

"Outskirts of the city" he smiled.

"That's cool. Can I come along?" I pleaded. "I won't distract you in your driving, I promise. Please please please?"

"Are you sure? The drive is not  that comfortable. A very long drive" His eyes looked at me skeptically.

"No I won't. And even I could help you in driving. Please please let me come with you?"

"Do you even have a license?" He japed.

"No" I curtly replied. "But you could rest midway. Please let me come?" I begged.

"Your implores! Okay fine" he sighed.

"Yay" I subconsciously hugged him.

I didn't realize how it would feel, until now. Time slowed down. My hair was stuck to Niall's face. I could feel Niall's heart beating erratically and we had the same rhythm. Slowly I could feel his hands traveling to my own back. The microscopic crush that I had developed for him was expressed by every inch of my body. As he laid his hands slowly on my back, my breath was stuck in my throat and my heartbeat got faster.

Gone, Tachycardia. I smiled against his neck.

"Thank you" I whispered into his ears.

And then I pulled out of the hug, very slowly. A new series of butterflies floated at the base of my tummy. I could stop myself from staring into his eyes. His fricking big blue eyes.

"We need to go" he broke off the eye contact.

Really? He didn't feel anything?
I blinked, my face blank as I saw him again. He looked confused at my lack of reaction. I smiled back at him before step out of the hotel.

All this while, I cherished all the moments that erupted butterflies in my stomach.
He really had something. Something that I was attracted to. Something too special. I could feel some sort of connection between the two of us.
