You didn't see Miguel for a while after that. And he randomly assigned you to the teams that keep every Alchemax at bay, just like he promised at the start. And you found yourself enjoying your new job. It was refreshing to be going back into your old missions, although it didn't involve killing. You felt yourself experience a big change, no longer looking forward to killing anymore. It was very refreshing.
Miguel's avoidance was eating at the back of your head, however. And you couldn't help but stress about what went wrong the last time you saw him. Did he think you were rejecting him?
"(Y/n), you don't have to do this one alone. At least bring someone with you for backup. Just in case-"
Jessica called you in to backup a rookie that was struggling to defeat an anomaly. There were no other available spiders, therefore she asked you since she was busy herself. And you didn't mind helping at all, defeating bad guys was a fun challenge.
You cut Jessica off, prepping your weapon, "Don't worry about me, Jess. I'll be alright. This is going to be quick and easy."
You heard her sigh on the other side of the call, "Let's just hope Miguel doesn't find out about this . . ."
"Even if he did, there's nothing to worry about. I'll be in, and then I'll be out." You load your weapon, getting into position.
With your Spider goggles, you noticed the anomaly exploring an abandoned lab. He looked like a decent human being exploring the area until he grew big and purple after hearing something nearby. He was almost like another version of Hulk.
Watching the creature throw a tantrum, you ready your aim towards his face. You decided to wait until the guy calmed down enough to stop moving everywhere destroying things. Eventually, he did, therefore you took your aim.
He was inspecting a certain tool, it looked like a gun that injects a chemical. Seeing him standing very still watching it, you fired at his hand holding the strange tool. The creature flinches back and holds his hand in pain, and looks around above to find you. You land a few more shots to his joints and he falls to the ground, slowly trying to get himself back up with his bruised joints.
"Perfect." You took this as your chance to launch yourself toward him and use your web-shooters to immobilize him.
However, his big hand wrapped around your figure, squeezing you tight. You groan from the pressure as you are lifted off the ground and forcefully turned towards the purple creature. He seemed to have grown bigger from the injuries, making you believe his power allows him to grow stronger from any inflicted damage.
You started to panic realizing your arms were immobile, so you couldn't access your watch to call for backup. The creature inspected you for a second before glaring and preparing to throw you elsewhere. He opens his jaw and roars into your face, strings of his spit flying past your head.
"Rude . . ." You mutter as you braced to be thrown into another building.
Just then, a portal opened and Miguel came crashing into the monster. You were released from the iron grip and your body went tumbling on the floor. You come to a stop and immediately look toward Miguel who tries tackling the creature.
"Miguel!" You cry out in a mixture of relief and surprise.
"Are you okay, (y/n)?" Miguel shouts, tackling the anomaly.
"Yes! But be careful, he gets stronger the more damage he takes!"
He grunts in response and tries to wrap his fire-red webbing around the anomaly. You see he's trying to immobilize it like you did instead of injecting his venom. You weren't sure what to do besides help Miguel trap the thing in webs.
