"You knew Babe Ruth?" Smalls asked in disbelief while looking at a picture.
"George? I sure did and he knew me."
"Almost as good a hitter as he was." I said laughing.
"I woulda broken his record too but,"
"you went blind." Smalls finished.
"Yup. Used to crowed the plates so the strike zone almost disappeared. Pitchers hate that." He said chuckling.
"That's the way he played 100% all the time." I said
"Baseball was life." We said together.
"And I was good at it, real good. Then one day, a high fast one and pow, lights out."
"I don't think we can take this ball." Benny said. "You know what, take care of my granddaughter and we got a deal." He said pointing at Benny.
"I can tell by the way you talk to each other." Benny blushed and I looked down. Smalls was laughing at our reactions.
"Deal." Benny said not looking up. This made me blush harder and Smalls to laugh harder.
We walked out and saw the gang waiting for us. They looked at me and Benny weirdly, probably because we were blushing so hard we were as red as a tomato at this point. And Smalls went and laughed so hard he fell.
Smalls did get grounded for a week once his old man got home but that was better than his whole life. Benny ended up asking me out a few days later and after a few months asked me to be his girlfriend.
