"So...this is it," Hyejin grabbed the backpack from the ground, trying to ignore the twinge of sadness she felt inside her.
"Yep," Haeun said.

After the message she had received from SM, she decided to stay with Hwayoung for a little longer. Just until she was settled down.

"I can't believe I'm going to be the only child," Hyejin sighed, looking at the ground.
"Aww you big baby. You have only one year of highschool left and then Uni," Hwayoung ruffled her hair. "And then you can visit us or we visit you."

Hyejin shoved her off with a scowl. "Gross."

The parents hugged their eldest daughters one last time and said a final goodbye. Hwayoung offered to drop them off at the airport but since she didn't know how to drive they told her to just relax at home instead of wasting money on a cab.

As soon as they departed, a sudden feeling of emptiness settled in the remaining sisters stomach.

Haeun had always lived with her family in Canada that staying with Hwayoung felt wrong in a way. Even if she found Hyejin to be a nuisance at home, she would miss her for sure.

On the other hand, Hwayoung felt her grandmothers presence lingering over the whole Jo family as they got together- she knew it sounded dumb but that was what she felt. It disappeared as her family left though, making her wish they would turn back around.

But she knew she couldn't linger any longer. A new chapter of her life was opening.

Hwayoung turned to Haeun who had her arms crossed in front of her chest in defence, looking wistfully at the door as she draped her arms across her shoulder. "Let's get you a room set up."
