Chapter 13

its been a couple of years since you took xiao in and he has adjusted to society quite well. hybrids of humans and animals are somewhat accepted now although they are still frowned upon by many. but an organization that goes by the name HCC(Hybrid Containment Center), has started to capture and run unethical tests on people like xiao. and the thing is, HCC is actually funded by the government and has its complete support!

the government has actually sent out squads to go and capture hybrids so that they can 'dispose' of them as they believe that hybrids are wretched creatures undeserving of life. some other organizations like HHC(Hybrid Help Center) have tried to combat the uprising of HCC but they dont have any support from the government. 

so in order to keep xiao safe, you have to hide xiao's hybrid features so that he doesn't get captured. although it pains you to do this, you must if you want xiao to be safe.

and that brings us to the present moment, where y/n and xiao are on a little date of sorts. in a underground cafe that claims to be a refuge for hybrids, you and xiao sit at a table sipping on some coffee. the place has good coffee AND supports hybrids?! its basically a win win situation! or so you thought.

*BANG BANG BANG*

"OPEN UP THE DOOR! HCC IS HERE!" some HCC officer shouts.

'oh shit,' you think to yourself.

"Everbody! Hide!" one of the waiters whisper-yells

this isnt the first time that HCC has done an inspection, so you thought everything would go as all the other times. but life has a way of throwing shit in your face. 

in order to protect xiao, you had to cover up his ears and tail. so while you guys were still at the house, you made him wear a beanie and wrap his tail to his leg. of course, it was probably uncomfortable for him, but at least discomfort is better than getting tortured and killed. 

whilst inspection was going on, xiao was understandably frightened even though this is the 100th time its happened to yall. but like always, you consoled him.

"hey dont be scared, we've done this a million times already. i wont let them take you." you whispered to him while yall hid under a table.

"like t-telling me to not be scared will make me automatically fearless," his voice cracked.

you could sense that he was about to cry but that was so unike him. it was giving you a bad feeling about the inspection this time. people do say that animals/hybrids have better intuition and senses that regular humans, but that fact wasnt so pleasant in this context.

as if the stars aligned to make your life shittier than it had already been, one of the HCC officers had looked under your table. your heart dropped(and probably shattered). immediately, two more officers came to forcfully pull you and xiao from under the table. you held onto the table that was deadbollted to the floor with all your might, but it wasnt enough.

while they made you stand there and watch, they snatched xiao's beanie off his head to reveal a pair of very real cat ears. just to make sure they were real, one officer who's nametag wrote 'Mitchel' roughly tugged on one of xiao's ears. hearing your precious xiao whine and scream out of pain lit a fire in you. you wanted to rip apart every officer in the building.

"LEAVE HIM ALONE! HE DID NOTHING WRONG!" you screamed at the top of your lungs and struggled against your human bindings.

"Hey hold her down- HOLD HER DOWN!" officer mitchel yelled.

you couldn't stop yourself from shedding tears. you looked into xiao's eyes once more before he was dragged away and you were dropped of the ground like a ragdoll.

hello everybody lol i know this story completely changed themes but i really wanted to add some more angsty and interesting themes so i hope yall liked it lmao

also somebody gave me the idea to include a date so this is kind of me doing that but its probably nothing that you expected is it lol

ill probably upload another chapter today or tomorrow but i hope yall enjoyed this one
