Sending my 6 year old daughter to school was nerve wracking. After 8 hours of her being at school surrounded by other kids her age in class, I was so relieved to see her home when Bill picked her up."How was your first day of school, sweetheart?" I asked Leni as I picked her up and kissed her all over her face.
"It was good, mommy. I made a friend."
I gasp and set her down on the kitchen chair.
"Really? What's her name?" I asked with a bright smile.
"He's a boy."
My eyes glance up at Bill when Leni had corrected me, seeing that his arms were crossed over his chest.
"What's his name?" I asked. I felt intrigued that my daughter could potentially have a crush on this boy. Or just remain friends.
Leni looked up at the ceiling as she tapped her chin with her finger. She looked back up at me and smiled big.
"Tyler. He's in first grade just like me."
"That's great, sweetheart! Is he cute?" I whispered in her ear so Bill couldn't hear me.
"Stay away from boys, sweetheart. They're nasty." Bill warned our 6 year old daughter.
I give Bill a look and tilt my head to the side slightly.
"She's 6, 8 don't think she knows what a crush is yet."
"He's kind of cute." Leni interrupts. She fiddles with her teddy bear in her hands, looking down at it.
Bill widens his eyes at me. "See? She does know what it is."
I giggle in response. "It's not like they're going to do anything. You worry too much."
Bill huffs and walks over as he pulls out of a pot.
"I'm making dinner."
"Thanks, sweetie. I'm going to help Leni with her homework." I said.
Leni was assigned homework to fill in blank words that helped her what to put in each one correctly. It took about 10 minutes to do and by the time we were done, dinner was ready.
"Pasta and Italian sauseags." Bill set down three plates full of food in front of us.
"Aww, babe if you needed help with the plate of food I would've been over there."
"It's okay, you were helping Leni with homework." Bill said as he poured sauce on his pasta.
The rest of the night went by smoothly, and I was happy to hear that Leni had made a friend, even though he was a boy. That didn't matter to me, as long as Leni is smart about her decisions.
I could see that Bill was still dwelling on it, but I'm sure he'll feel better about the situation eventually.
After dinner, I did the dishes while Bill and Leno watched tv on the couch in the living room behind me. I glance at them, my head turned in their direction. A smile stretches across my lips, and I realize what an amazing family I have.
Once the dishes were done, I went over and joined them on the couch. Leni was in the middle of me and Bill, and I looked at my husband with love. His eyes meet mine, and a devilish grin appears on his lips.
Leni crawls in my lap, and i set her down between my legs to make sure she got comfortable, and she was. I smiled down at her and kissed the side of her forehead.

During the movie, Leni had fallen asleep so I went upstairs and tucked her in her bed. She was fast asleep, and looked calm and peaceful.Bill appears behind me and holds me close to him. He wraps his hands around my waist and kisses down my neck. I mew with delight at the feeling of his lips on my body.
