play the song later in the story when the mood kicks in ;) <3 & maybe lover you should have come over by jeff buckley just my suggestions :p
The rain was pouring when you woke up, making for the perfect lazy day. It had been quite the week, to say the least. You had been so caught up thinking about Alex, you didn't really get to process or celebrate your promotion, despite it being quite exciting and an important step in your career.
It was ironic that the first thing that popped in your head was Alex. You've had boyfriends in the past, slept with others before (just go along with it for the story ok), but he was definitely at the top of the list. Intentional or not, he always did satisfy you and sometimes it felt like he did care.
You were probably thinking about it a little too much. He probably didn't think about you like that. Or maybe even at all. The rain outside was affecting your mood, sinking you deeper into your pessimistic thoughts.
To fight your mood, you got up out of bed, feeling a little sore from the night before. You didn't have much planned for today, just resting and maybe going to the gym or the store to run some errands. You didn't know if you'd get to it since your pajamas were feeling particularly comfortable.
Even in your troubled state, you did manage to muster up the courage to get out in the rain and head to the gym (writer here I go to the gym very often it's like my only personality trait besides fangirling). Surprisingly, putting on some gym clothes and getting out eased your mind. Who cares if Alex thought about you? I mean, you weren't dating or anything. Sure, things were probably a little complicated, but I mean you weren't committed and you shouldn't expect him to feel or act a certain way. Even though you liked the idea of him thinking about you.
You had a decent workout at the gym. Everything was going just fine. Was being the key word there. One of the guys, Adam, who goes to the gym pretty regularly approaches you just as you were leaving. You've seen him several times, he was pretty attractive, but you have to be apprehensive of gym bros. A lot of them are big douches. The two of you had made small talk in the past, he was a pretty outgoing guy so despite you being an introvert, he got a few words out of you before.
"Hey," he said, giving a friendly smile.
"Hi," you answered back.
"So, I know we've talked a few times in passing before and..."
You knew where this was going.
"...I just wanted to know if you'd want to go out with me tonight?"
He had said some words between those two sentences but you didn't really process much else.
In that moment, you were oddly conflicted. He seemed like a nice guy. Any other time, you would have probably said yes, but this time around, all you really wanted was Alex.
Although you weren't particularly intrested, you said yes, hoping that this date would get your mind off of him.
"Great, here's my number, I'll pick you up around 7?"
"Sounds good. I'll see you then," you smiled.
Was this a little spontaneous and crazy? Yes. Could he murder you? Possibly. Was it any worse than sleeping with your co-worker at work in your office? Not exactly.
You left the gym, a little excited. It had been a minute since you had went on a date. Maybe this will help clear those lingering feelings that kept popping up in your mind. It'll be fun, right?
