When The Problem was around 40 years old, people were starting to get a better hand on ghost hunting such as creating more agencies and lowering the age of eligibility to work down to 13. They even created orphanages for abandoned kids whose parents died from ghost touch. Although most orphanages were so poorly staffed, to the point that children would regularly disappear with no one knowing what had happened.

Lilith had been left in such an orphanage at the age of 6 with only a letter which she kept to herself as it contained a number linked to a bank account for her when she was old enough.

The staff mainly left her alone, only interacting with her when they fed her or had to give her new clothes. This left Lilith with plenty of spare time to read all the books she could get her hands on as she knew that when she turned thirteen, she would have to work for the local agency and wanted to be educated enough for when her talents faded. Although, she didn't need to as she had enough money to last her in her bank account until she died.

As she grew older, the staff wanted less and less to do with the girl, as they found her to be very weird for a child. Even a child with the abilities to see and hear ghosts. Animals tended to either hate or love her. Dogs barked madly when she came close, yet cats and snakes basked in her presence. Spiders almost seemed to follow her as if she wasn't human but one of the ghosts that children could see.

A few more things that made this child different from the rest were the gloves and mask she never took off, along with her advanced intelligence.

Once she turned thirteen, the staff couldn't be happier with knowing she was finally leaving to work as an agent at Jacobs.

Liliths POV

Putting all my clothes and books inside my suitcase, I looked around my room once more ensuring I grabbed everything even though I knew I did. Knocking sounded on my door as the Orphanage Manager, Agatha, poked her head in.

Agatha scowled Are you almost ready to go? I don't have too much time to drive you.

I nodded, my facial features covered by a hooded balaclava mask. With one last look, I followed Agatha outside and over to the car. Putting my stuff in the back seat, I followed soon after with my body. Agatha looked back once before starting the vehicle and backing down the driveway. The drive took at most 10 minutes, but with the silence, it felt so much longer.

Arriving outside the agency, I opened my door and grabbed my suitcase. Turning around I barely had time to close the door before Agatha drove off, with not even a goodbye. Not that I expected it.

Turning around once more to face the building, I noticed how plain it was. There were no words on the large building until you reached the door. The sign read-only Jacobs and co, along with some work hours.

Opening the door, I saw what seemed to be a secretary. Walking over, I stood in front of her desk while placing my suitcase on the floor, and waited until she looked up before introducing myself.

Hello, Im Lilith Blackwood, and Ive come to see Jacobs. She looked me over before responding, Yes, I was told about you. Well come along, follow me. She rose from her seat while talking and gestured for me to follow. Grabbing my suitcase I rushed to follow her before she disappeared from my sight. Looking back to make sure I was following, she walked over to a door and knocked once.

Come in a male voice sounded out from the closed room. The secretary opened the door before gesturing to me to walk inside. As soon as I had, she closed the door behind me leaving me alone with who I assumed was Jacobs, my new boss.
