Kundavai x Vanthiyathevan One Shots

Prompt by @darkprincessisinlove "Who did this to you?" - So I started it as an angst but somehow it turned into a fluff 😂 anyway, enjoy 

Kundavai practically ran to the chamber where Vanthiyathevan was . All the guard was able to get out of his mouth was "Vana Kula Ilavarase has been injured.." and she didn't sat down to hear the rest. Thousands of questions were running through her head. Whether he was severely wounded or if it was only a mild scrapping of a knee and she was overthinking it. Whether he got medical attention in time or if they were still waiting for the royal physician. Whether he had eaten something or was now lying in pain. At that, Kundavai's concern turned to anger. Curses to whoever dare to wound her beloved. She would find the culprit and drag him all the way to the palace before metting out any punishment that Vanthiyar sees fit. But then again, there won't be any fire without smoke. Surely Vanthiyar must also have been a participant in initiating the fight. She remember Aditha Anna once telling her that his dear best friend has a habit of stirring up trouble wherever he went . So much so that Aditha had to give him a lecture on keeping out of mischief everytime he went for a mission. And how Vanthiyathevan managed to rile up Chinna Pazhuvettarayar's men against him was proof of that enough. She made a mental note to find out the truth and box his ears if he really had invited himself into the fight.

When she made it to the chamber, she saw the royal physician was already packing up to leave. "The Ilavarase is fine" the physician told her "He only has some flash wounds which will heal in a few days". Kundavai also dismissed the servants from the chamber before approaching the bed containing a guilty - looking Vanthiyathevan.

"Who did this to you?" She asked sternly but Vanthiyathevan could only laugh at the manner in which his princess in shining armour was questioning him. "You don't have to do anything about him, Devi. I have also managed to equally wound him that he won't be able to pick fight with anyone for some time" Vanthiyathevan said proudly, expecting a praise from Kundavai for his courage and fighting skills.

"You won't be able to either, from the look of things" Kundavai remarked, half sarcastically

"Do you know why I fought with him? Because he was saying ill-things about Chola Desam. That the Pandiyas are going to defeat every ruling king and take the land for themselves. They also starting bad-mouthing you and your siblings - that's when I could not control my patience any longer and struck him" Vanthiyathevan pleaded his case innocently

But Kundavai was livid "So you started the fight? How many times have Aditha Anna told you to not get into any trouble? How many times have I asked you to give importance to your patience than your fists? This is not the first time we have had talks of such kind against our kingdom and family but if we answer every one of those taunts with fistfights, what impression would we be making? This is not a desirable attitude. I am not talking to you" Saying this, Kundavai turned away from him, but couldn't find it in herself to leave him so she settled for changing his bandages which was soaked from his fresh wounds.

"I didn't think of it like that" Vanthiyathevan mumbled but received no reply from Kundavai

"I'll surely remember your words the next time" Still silence from the other person

"I promise there won't be a next time " He said and Kundavai looked at him "Promise?" She asked in a soft voice

"Promise" He nodded and she held his hands with a smile.

"But I may go back on that promise if someone says anything disrespectful about you" He whispered to her ear and received a small slap on his arm from her who whispered back "You'll forever be my troublemaker"
