You're in the hospital getting bandaged. Tatum came in with Dewey. You've been in mostly shock, not able to realize that Casey is dead.
"Y/n!" Tatum shouts, running in the room. You look at her, smiling. "Hey," you say. She holds your hand.
"Are you alright? Oh my god, you could've died." She says. She hugs you. "Thanks. I'm okay. I don't wanna be in here anymore, and the doctor said that the cut wasn't deep, so I'm getting discharged in an hour or so." Tatum nods, smiling at you. "Hey Dewey" you say to him. He nods at you. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm ok. As good as you can be after watching your friend and her boyfriend get murdered."After getting discharged, your mom drives you home. "Hun, I don't even know if you should go to school tomorrow. It's going to be awful there." She tells you. You smile at her. "I have a test. It's gonna be okay. Plus, kids will be everywhere." She nods, slightly smiling.
The next morning you get out of bed, dreading school. No backing out now. You get out of bed and wrap your upper thigh in gauze the nurse gave you.
"Baby?" You mother knocks on the door. "Yeah?" You answer, grunting. "Are you doing okay?"
"Yes. Just getting ready." You tell her. After getting ready, your mother takes you to school. "You can come home if you need anything." She tells you after pulling up. News vans swarm the school, looking for you. "Yep." You say. Grabbing your backpack and leaving, you immediately get swamped by cameras and microphones. "Hey! Out of our way!" Tatum yells, grabbing your hand and pulling you out. Sidney is right next to her, holding your other arm. "Okay, thanks guys, but I can walk." You tell them. "Sorry." Sidney says, releasing her grip on you. "How're you feeling?" She asks. "Fine. For the most part." You didn't really know what to say. Sidney gives you a hug. "Oh my god, I almost died." You tell them through Sidney's shoulder.
"C'mon, let's go to your locker." Tatum says, taking my hand in hers. When you got there, Billy was already there. He'd been waiting there for 10 minutes, hoping you would come today. He felt awful about what happened and couldn't bear to see you in pain. He yelled at Stu repeatedly for hurting you, but his excuse was that you simply got in the way of Casey. But he saw. He knew that already. He watched Stu hesitantly hit you. That night while you were in the hospital and after visiting Sidney, he went to the school and planted dozens of letters for you around in your locker and in Tatum's and Sidney's. He loved you.
"Hey Billy." You say, unlocking your locker and breaking him out of his thought. "Oh hey Y/n." He tried to remain calm. His heart beat faster and his palms were sweaty. "Are you alright? I heard about what happened." He tells you. "Yeah. I'm okay." He nods. You open your locker, and 5 letters fly out. Sidney looks at Billy, who has a smile on his face at the sight of the letters. She tries to ignore it and helps you and Tatum pick them up. "Oh my god, not again." You say.
"What?" Tatum asks, curious. You sigh. "Well, when I first got here, there was a letter inside my locker. Now there's even more? It's so creepy." You tell them. Billy quickly drops his smile. "Do you still have the last one?" You ask him. Sidney and Tatum look at him, confused. "Oh, yeah." He reaches into his locker and pulls it out. You grab it and hand it to them. "Ooh- a lover!" Tatum exclaims. Me? Billy thinks. "Creepy." Sidney says. Of course.
"I mean, it's kinda sweet. But also weird at the same time." You tell them. You grab the other, newer letters and stuff them in your backpack. "Well, me and Billy better get to class." You tell them. "Okay. Meet us here immediately after class!" Tatum tells you. As you guys split, a boy comes running at you, slamming you into a locker. "Jealous Psycho!" He screams at you and runs away. You look down, focusing on holding your tears back. Billy grabs your hand and leads you down the hall to the class. "Kids are so stupid. I'm sure that they don't know anything and are failing all their classes." He tells you, which makes you laugh. His heart melts listening to you. When you sit down, you pull out the letters. You open the first one. It's another note. Please notice me, my love.
"Huh." You say. Billy leans over your shoulder and butterflies fly through your stomach as he sits there and reads. You open the next one. This one is a picture of you, maybe a year ago, hanging out with Tatum. You look at it, scared. Billy fidgets with his thumbs, waiting for you to react. Hitching your breath, you slide the picture and envelope away. No reaction? He leans back in his seat. "Y/n?" He asks you. You turn to him. Cute. "Yeah?"
"Are you okay? You've been quiet this entire time." He says to you. He just wants to hold you. "Yeah. It's really... creepy, you know?" You tell him. He nods, trying to be understanding.During lunch, you all sit at the fountain in the courtyard in front of the high school. Stu is telling the group about what he was questioned about. You're sitting on the ground in front of the fountain and Billy, who's laying on the fountain, Sidney between his legs. "They asked me if I liked to hunt." Stu tells you.
"Why would they ask you if you liked to hunt?" Tatum questions, a little accusatory. Stu shrugs. "I don't know. They just did, I guess."
"Because, their bodies were gutted." Randy says. You look away, your stomach churning. Billy obviously notices your discomfort and sits up. "Thanks, Randy." Billy says. Tatum won't drop the hunting.
"They didn't ask me if I liked to hunt."
"Because, babe, there's no way a girl could have killed them." You, Sidney and Tatum flash him a dirty look. "That's so sexist." You tell him. "The killer could easily be female. Basic instinct." Tatum says, grabbing a grape from her bag. Randy sighs. "That was an ice pick. Not exactly the same." Stu smiles. "Yeah, Casey and Steve were completely hollowed out. Takes a man to do that sort of thing." There's an awkward silence. You're not really paying attention anymore as you're more focused on not thinking about that night. You feel a tap on your shoulder. Turning to look, you see Billy smiling at you. "Are you okay?" He asks. You nod, turning back to everything else.
"How...do you fit someone?" Everyone looks at Sidney, who said it so quietly, you could've missed it. No one really says anything until Stu speaks up, in a kiddish manner. "You take a knife and slit then from the groin to their sternum." He tells her. Everyone glares at him. "What? She asked!" He says. Billy rolls his eyes.
"It's called a tact, you fuckrag." He says. You smile, making him smile, looking at you. Everyone notices, except you. "Sorry." Stu says. Randy speaks up, sort of changing the subject."Do you guys remember in Jaws when they first caught the wrong shark and Dreyfuss cut it open to look for body parts and all they found was a license plate and white goo?" Stu leans over and punches Randy's arm. You smile again. It was nice having them be normal-ish towards each other. "You heard Billy." Stu says, "Shut the fuck up."
"Hey Stu, didn't you used to date Casey?" Sidney asks, curious. I remember that. Tatum came over one time, excitedly telling me about how Stu broke up with Casey and how they were getting together. You think. Stu looks caught off guard, like it was a secret. "Yeah, for about two seconds." Randy snickers, looking down and playing with his fingers. "Until she dumped him for Steve," Tatum turns to Stu. "I thought you dumped her for me?" She questions him. "I did. He's full of shit." Stu says, nudging Randy. Randy pretends to use a microphone. "And, are the police aware that you dated the victim?" He says, passing the microphone to Stu. Stu pushes Randy's hand down. "What, are you saying I killed her or something?" He says, nervously. Weird.
"It would certainly improve your high school Q" Randy retaliates. Tatum smiles. "Stu was with me last night." She tells Randy, grabbing Stu's hand. Randy grins. "Ooh. Before or after he sliced and diced?" He asks her. Tatum scoffs. "Fuck you, nutcase. If you don't mind me asking, where were you last night?" She asks, smugly. Randy straightens his back. "I was working, thank you very much." Sidney smiles. "I thought Blockbuster fired you."
"Twice." Randy tells her, proudly. Stu looks uncomfortable. "Well, I didn't kill anybody." Billy gives him a glare, sitting up straighter. You immediately sense that somethings off about them. "Nobody said you did." No one else seems to notice they're strange behavior. "Besides, it takes a man to do something like that," Randy says, mocking Stu. "I'm gonna gut your ass in a second." Stu threatens. You clear your throat, standing up. Billy looks up at you, and scrambles to stand as well. "Where are you going?" He asks you. You give him a weak smile. "I gotta grab something from Art that I forgot. See you around?" You ask him. He nods, touching your arm. Sidney gives you both a side eye, but tries to ignore it. You wave bye to Tatum. After school, you're walking home. Someone runs up to you. "Hey, wanna come over tonight? Sidney's coming too!" Tatum offers. You smile at her. "Sure! My mom just went out of town this afternoon for the weekend, so I'm free!" You tell her. Tatum smiles at you. "Awesome. Sidney offered to let you hang out at her place until I get you guys."
"Okay." Tatum walks off and joins Stu walking home. You knock on Sidney's door. She answers, a smile on her face. "Hey Sid!" You say. "Hey n/n! I just got off the phone with Tatum and she'll be here around 7." You check your watch. 4:30. "Okay." You both sit on the couch and get to talking.
