You watch as Billy gets pulled into the sheriffs office. He looks at you, almost pleading for you to say something. You turn your head away from him. After maybe 10 minutes, you hear Billy raise his voice. "Sheriff, I didn't kill anybody!" You look over through the window and he looks back at you. You can see he's fighting tears. Two police officers walk in and handcuff him. They drag him out. He looks at you both, shouting at you to tell Burke and Dewey that he didn't do anything.
"That ghost mask is sold at Kroger and Walmart alike. Neither keep up with purchase records." Dewey tells the Sheriff.
"What about the phone bill?" Sheriff Burke asks. Dewey sighs.
"They're pulling Loomis' account. But we'll have to wait until morning before we know. Ya' think he did it?" Dewey questions him. The sheriff looks at him.
"20 years ago, I woulda said not a chance. But these kids today, damn if I know." Tatum walks over.
"Dewey? Can we go?" She asks. Dewey sighs.
"Hold up a second."
"They staying with you?"
"We haven't located her dad yet, sheriff." Tatum groans.
"Goddammit, Dewey!" She says. Dewey walks closer to her, face red. "What did Mama tell you? When I wear this badge, you treat me like a man of the law." A couple of police officers snicker.
"Sorry, Deputy-Dewey boy, but we're ready to go." She grabs his hat off his desk and tosses it to him.
"Use the back way. Avoid the circus." Sheriff Burke says. You, Sidney, and Tatum stand up and walk out the back. Dewey tells you to wait there while he gets the car. Just then, Gale Weathers comes around the corner after seeing that there was a back exit.
"Hello Y/n." She says. You spin around to face her. "Some night. Are you both doing okay?" She asks you and Sidney. You grab Sidney's hand. She's obviously shaking. "What happened?" Asks Gale.
"No questions. Leave them alone." Tatum tells her. Gale's persistent.
"It's okay, Tate. She's just doing her job. Right, Gale?" Sidney says, lowering Tatum's hand. You look over at Sidney, who has become noticeably less nervous.
"Yeah, that's right." Gale says smugly. Dewey pulls up in his squad car. More people then flock up, to see what's going on. Sidney continues talking, as if interviewing Gale.
"How's the book?"
"It'll be out later this year." Sidney takes a deep breath. You look at Tatum, wide eyed.
"I'll look for it." Sidney says, turning around. Gale just can't leave things where they are.
"I'll send you a copy!" That was the last straw. Sidney whips around, fist crashing into Gale's cheek. Sidney spins around and gets in the car. Amazed, you follow after.
"That was amazing! I loved it. "I'll send you a copy" BAM, bitch went down. "I'll send you a copy." BAM. Sid - Super Bitch!" Tatum says, reenacting it with a stuffed animal. You and Sidney are sitting on Tatum's second bed. You never understood why Tatum had two beds, but after your dad died, you stayed over a lot. Dewey walks in with ice.
"Hey, Sid. Thought you might want some ice for that right hook." He tells Sidney. He throws her the ice. She puts it on her knuckles. "I'll be right next door if you need anything."
"Any word for either of our parents?" You ask Dewey. He looks at you.
"Not yet. But we're looking." He leaves.
"Just an average sleepover at the Riley's." You say, adjusting yourself.
"Just like old times, huh?" Tatum says to you. Sidney butts in.
