I woke up one morning without Becky by my side, which was unusual. I had always found her next to me when I woke up, but this time, she was nowhere to be seen. A sense of unease washed over me, and I realized she must have slipped out of bed without me noticing.
"Where's Becky?" I asked the head maid as she set the table in the dining area.
"She said she wouldn't have breakfast today because she's going out with Tre," she replied.
I stepped outside and spotted Tre on the training field, running and drenched in sweat. When he saw me, he immediately stopped and looked down.
"Where's Becky?" I inquired.
He furrowed his eyebrows and glanced at me. "Didn't she sleep with you? I haven't seen her this morning."
"But the head maid told me Becky said she was going out with you. Where is she now?" I asked, growing irritated.
"I don't know, F. Maybe she's with Sei. He just came home this morning," Tre suggested, looking around and calling out to Sei. "Have you seen Becky?" he asked.
"No, why, F? Did she leave without your permission?" Sei inquired, and I shook my head.
Where could she have gone? Last night, she was furious with me and mentioned joining Tre or anyone else going out. I remembered asking Cinque to eliminate the leader of the rival organization.
I was about to call Cinque, but then I saw her approaching us.
"What are you all doing here?" she asked. "Having a secret meeting?"
"Have you seen Becky?" I urgently inquired.
Cinque shook her head. "Anyway, some of my men told me she went out this morning with my sniper, so I was also looking for her."
I smacked my forehead and hurried into the garage to grab my Ducati. I needed to find her.
"F, it's dangerous! There are snipers in the first tunnel. They'll kill you if you drive past them," Tre warned, grabbing my arms to stop me.
I glared at him and gestured for him to release me. "If anything happens to Becky, I'll hold all of you responsible!" I yelled, hastily putting on my helmet.
Tre and Cinque followed me to the first tunnel, even though I didn't ask them to. However, when we arrived, we saw red flags impaled on every fallen man. There were numerous casualties.
We ventured further and heard someone humming. Tre immediately located the source, and there was Becky, singing "Safe and Sound" while sharpening a stick adorned with a red flag.
Did she do all of this? How?
"Oh, you're awake," Becky greeted me with a smile, blood staining her hands and arms.
"Who did this?" I asked through clenched teeth.
"Look, you look like this," Becky giggled, raising the red flag and gently removing my hands from her.
Tre and Cinque chuckled at her response. What did she mean by saying I looked like a red flag?
Becky took Cinque's sniper and approached a fallen man who hadn't been marked with a red flag yet. She suddenly knelt down, aimed on the right without even looking through the lens, and shot another man.
How did she do that?
We watched in awe as Becky retrieved the gun from the fallen man and brought it back to where we were standing. I glanced around and noticed several snipers in the vicinity, most likely from the guy she had just killed.
Seeing her in action made me proud. I wanted to embrace her at that moment, but I knew I had to scold her later. While driving here, countless "what ifs" had raced through my mind, and she nearly gave me a heart attack.
Becky returned to us and asked Tre how many snipers he had estimated would come here last night.
"30," Tre replied.
Becky aimed the sniper at him and shot the man standing behind him. If Tre had moved even slightly, he would have been dead.
"It's 29," Becky smirked, returning the sniper to Cinque. She gestured for me to join her and placed a helmet on my head. "There. You look cute today," Becky said, kissing my lips and motioning for me to get on the bike. We were going back to the manor.
Once we arrived, I asked Becky to shower with me so I could check if she had been shot. I carefully rinsed her body, searching for any wounds, but found none.
"The blood isn't mine, relax, babe," Becky giggled, though I rolled my eyes.
I pressed one of her bruises on her back, causing her to groan in pain.
"Do you want to die young? What if you're not skilled enough? What if there are traps waiting for you? You could have been killed, Rebecca!" I scolded her, but she continued to giggle.
Damn, what am I going to do with this girl?
"I'm sorry," she said sincerely. "Did I do well? I did it to make you proud."
"I'm always proud of you. You don't have to prove yourself," I replied.
"I told you, I want to be your everything," she pouted.
"You already are, okay? So stop making me worry. You'll be the cause of my early demise," I sighed and grabbed a towel to dry her hair.
"I love you, Freenky," she whispered.
"I love you too, and please don't do this again. I'll let you join us now. Stop running away," I pleaded.
Becky nodded and hugged me tightly.
