Amara's POV:

I had just dropped off Jordyn at her house. We'd usually hang out at my place but my brothers were in town and the stuff we gossip about should not be overheard by boys. And she finds my oldest brother cute. It's disgusting. I step into my house to be greeted with the smell of something burning.

I coughed out some of the smoke I inhaled as Cory, my oldest brother, opened the oven. "Why would you let Cory cook? You know he burns literally everything!" I yell to Glen before I rush over with a rag to blow the smoke out the window before the smoke detector goes off. Glen and Cory are twins, Glen is the oldest by three minutes and makes sure everyone in his life is aware of that. It would be difficult to tell them apart if Cory didn't dye his hair red but if I'm being honest, that was a power move. The color red suits him very well.

"He insisted that we make a celebratory pizza to congratulate mom for getting a new job but that idiot got so invested in Cruel Summer that he forgot all about it!" Cory threw his rag at Glen's face. "How could you not get invested in Cruel Summer? Kate is claiming that Jeanette saw when she was being held captive by her teacher and did nothing but Jeanette is claiming that she never saw Kate and should not be having her life get ruined because of a false accusation and everyone is acting so suspicious and I have no idea who to believe!" Glen inhales deeply from not breathing for a good ten seconds. Cory just rolls his eyes at his dramatic brother before coming to help me fan the smoke out.

"Aside from all of this, how was your day Mara?" I shrugged my shoulders, dropping the rag onto the counter. "Fine," I answered plainly. Glen raised his eyebrows, expecting me to elaborate more. I hated the stare downs he did with me, I always lost so I didn't even try to go up against him.

"It was better than most of my school days. There were these triplet boys that were transferred into our school today and they needed someone to guide them to their first period which also happened to be our first period, so we all went together. Jordyn tagging along of course." I take an apple from the fruit bowl as I explain. I don't see Cory and Glen's face until I look up.

They looked hella confused.

"I'm sorry, you actually made conversation with not one, not two, but three guys at your high school?" Cory skeptically looked at me. "Amara, the most introverted shit I've ever met offered to give three guys a tour? Nah we must be getting pranked right now." I rolled my eyes.

"Shut up Glen, I didn't offer it was Jordyn." Both boys immediately looked at each with a better understanding of the situation. "Now that I can believe." Glen chuckles as he takes the burnt pizza out of the oven.

"You guys act as if I'm completely incapable of talking to someone new. I could go up to anyone if I wanted to, you know." I stated. All of our lips curled up before bursting laughing in unison. I was kidding myself.

"Alright enough of that, we gotta clean this mess up before mom gets home." I agreed with Cory and began helping them, getting wet rags, trash bags, boring cleaning stuff.

Jordyn's POV:

"Wassup max" I kneeled down to pet my dog. He immediately started jumping up and down and licking my face, causing a big smile to form on my face. I truly do not believe anyone can love you more than a dog can.

Dogs are the most loyal creatures out here. They protect you, they comfort you when you're sad, they're always up to play with you, they'll nap with you, what more can you ask for.

I've had max since I was seven. I had a phase where I was overly obsessed with dogs on the internet and that obsession soon turned into actually getting on my knees, begging my parents for a dog. I put on quite a show too. I was a major drama queen, tears falling down and everything. And we got a dog!!

I never had any siblings and my parents aren't very present in my life so Max kinda makes up for that. Max is my best friend. Made him swear to never tell Amara I said that. I kick off my shoes and flop onto the couch, turning on the Tv.

"What to watch. I could rewatch Stranger Things? Nah they kinda ruined it with the fourth season. I'm kinda in the mood for a horror movie lowkey. But all the horror movies on Netflix suck ass." I groan dramatically and throw the remote across the couch.

"Why couldn't Amara be free bro, I'm bored." I complain to Max as I scratch behind his ears. He has no clue what I'm saying, good for him to be honest. He's too innocent to be understanding the words that come out of my mouth.

I pick up my phone and FaceTime Amara.

"Hello?"

"Bitch I'm bored and it's your fault."

"How is that my fault?"

"Cause you didn't let me come over to steal your food and watch movies, there's literally nothing good to eat here and I only pay for Netflix."

"Girl, there's plenty of movies on Netflix you jus-" Cory takes the phone. "Hey Jordyn!"

My face lights up.

"Hey Coryy"

"You should come over, we're ordering some pizza because SOMEONE burnt the homemade one, from getting caught up in a stupid show." Glen snatches the phone almost immediately.

"It is not a stupid show! This girl name Jannette is being framed for-" "Nuh uh, we're not doing this again." Amara says annoyed, taking her phone back and walking away from their chaotic presence.

"There's too much going on J, they're making a mess and Glen keeps going on about some show, let me just call you after it's all done." I groan.

"Fake friend for wanting to hang up. I'll just die of boredom then. You're not even gonna see me tomorrow, the police gonna find me dead I swear." Amara rolls her eyes playfully.

"You'll be fine. I gotta go, ilyy"

"Yeah yeah whatever ily too." I say plainly and hang up.

Chris' POV:

We had a twenty minute drive ahead of us and I was bored as hell. I played some angry birds, tic tac toe with some online bot but for some reason I couldn't stop thinking about P.E. Amara was an awkward girl at first but she quickly warmed up to me and Matt. I live with an introvert so I know how hard it is to open up like that.

"Who were those nice ladies you boys were talking to?" Marylou asks politely. I shot my head up from my phone. Matt did as well.

"Just some friendly girls we met at school, they helped us find our classes." Nick explained. "That's so sweet. You boys get their number?" She joked. Matt's face immediately flushed up, Nick's curled up in disgust. "No mom they're just friends." Matt nodded along with Nick's statement.

"Yep, just friends." I add. I stay silent the rest of the car ride.
