I raise my eyebrow as Doctor Octavius turns her back towards me, looking out her window and onto the city below her.

"Until it's permissible by Norman Osborn and until we get more materials for this, we can't begin working on it, yet. And, sadly, I can't mention what it is." She sighs loudly before turning back around.

"Oscorp really does not want to be pulled into legal issues right now." Doctor Octavius chuckles heartily before striding around her desk and behind my chair. I smile, excited at the prospect of her new project. "That sounds great." I stand up, turning in order to extend my hand to her.

She takes it, shaking it. "So, it's decided. You'll be working alongside me first hand. I'll let you know when the project is ready.."  I nod excitedly. "I can't wait. Thank you for the opportunity!"

I quickly grab my bag, walking out of the room as Doctor Octavius waves goodbye. I shut the door with a large grin on my face. "Hehe!" The secretary glances at me with a small smile.

I then walk out of the Oscorp Tower, trying to conceal my excitement as I walk through the crowds of Oscorp employees. I exit through the front doors, pulling out my phone to text Gwen but I also see a text from my mom, asking that I come home right away.

I shrug it off, and begin walking home to my apartment. I manage to spot Gwen tying up a thief with her webs before flying off in another direction. I take a picture of the thief, sending it to her and giggling to myself.

Arriving at my building as it becomes dark, I open the door to my apartment, cautiously entering. "Y/N, you there?" A booming voice says as I enter the kitchen. I slowly turn to the figure, recognizing my mom. "H-Hey,  I'm home.." My voice fades a little.

"So how was your interview?" She asks while setting the table. "It was great. Doctor Octavius said I practically got the job on the spot." I say with a slightly relaxed demeanor, but my guard was still put up.

"That's great, honey." She stands up, walking towards me. "Come, let's eat together. We have to celebrate." She says with a slight smile. I nod, returning her smile. We sit down together at the table, with her filling my plate up with a ton of food.

"Really.. I don't need this much mom.." I play with my food a little. She looks at me with eyes widened. "What? You don't like this? This was your favourite when you were younger." Mom  continues taking a bite of her food.

"Macaroni & cheese? I'm 17, Mom." I laugh a little before remembering I have to study for a biology exam for tomorrow. "What's wrong?" My mom raises an eyebrow.

"I'm kinda full.." I shove my plate closer to Mom before standing up. "I really have to catch up on homework, but I'll eat this later."

I grab my bag, throwing it over my shoulder as my Mom watches me. "You want this for lunch tomorrow?" She asks, raising her voice. "Whatever!" I respond with a shout back. She sighs, giving a strangely proud smile before glancing at the portrait on the wall, containing both of us, including my dad.

"She's growing up so fast, Ivan.." She mutters under her breathe.

With a small thud, I close the door to my room, placing my bag on my desk chair. I then bring out my large and thick biology textbook. I place it on the floor next to my bed, sitting down with a thud, and begin to flip through the sections I have to study.

Unbeknowingst to me, Gwen swings onto my rooftop, slowly traveling down the fire exit and approaching my window.

After a few minutes of reviewing some old terms and definitions, I hear a knock on the  glass from outside. I look up, seeing Gwen with her spider-suit on but her mask off. "Come in." I say with a cheeky smile. She opens the window with a grunt before sliding herself in a little, resting on the window edge.
