~*~ Hoofstuk drie ~*~
What a fine day.
Mr. Archie reading his book about monkeys with a magnifying glass in his hands, he is resting on his stomach over the ground as he reads.
He is 4 feet and 9 inches tall sprawled on the ground, reading and humming.
While Jane is standing just a meters away from her dad, a chalkboard in front of her as she draws of what is been occupying her mind for a couple of days.
Her concentration is in the curves and lines of the ape man's features. His face has always been on the back of her sight that Jane can't help to reminisce by sketching it.
"I've never seen such eyes that hold the forest." She sighs, outlining the curves of Harry's eyeball. "They were intense and focused..." she trails.
Mr. Archie stands next to his daughter, beamingly. "Shall I leave you and the chalkboard for moment?"
"Daddyyyy!" she laughs and playfully throws the small piece of chalk at her father.
"Okay, I'm going back there now. Must give you a space with the board." He chuckles as he walks away.
Jane looks at her drawing one last time. Just the sketch of Harry gives her chills.
The rustling of the bush breaks Jane thoughts, her head snaps at the direction of the light sounds of the leaves.
As she approaches it, she picks a branch from the ground as her defense weapon.
Her throat becomes dry, and her palms are sweating as she walks towards. The bush is near in her reach so she raises her arms with the weapon in her grasp.
Then all of a sudden, a lanky body emerges up that gave Jane a heart attack. Jane fell on her bottom.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Hi," Harry waves innocently and adorably at Jane. His full smile, indented dimple on his left cheek and his unruly hair of ringlets.
Natural tanned skin and slightly toned muscles on his body with sprinkle of dark ink when Jane's gazed went down, "Wait, are you naked behind there?" she asks suspiciously.
"Oh, well, you see I was wondering – " Harry started while he is trying to make his way through the bushes.
"No! Don't come near if your unclothed, Harry."
As he made through the shrubs, black tight pants, hugging his long legs came into her view then a wash of relief flowed on her.
"Hartklop, —" Harry whispers.
"Jane, dear, what's happening there?" Mr. Archie calls, jogging towards his daughter. His eyes went wide when he sees a shirtless and an unfamiliar man kneeling in front of Jane, he stops abruptly and pulls out a revolver and points it to Harry.
"Who are you? What are you doing to my daughter?!"
Jane fleet on her feet and went to Mr. Archie, "No, daddy, everything is fine. He is fine." She states.
He looks at Jane as he lowers his gun then glance at Harry, who is also on his feet now. "Remember the ape man I told you about, the one who saved me from the baboons?"
"Yes yes yes, ah yeah." Mr. Charlie then laughs and throws his guns at the back then approaches and hugs Harry. "Thank you for saving my daughter, ape man."
"You're welcome."
"You are really a fine young man. What's your name?"
A smile forms on Harry's face and lightly jumps, greedily. He places his hands over his chest, "Harry."
A pang of déjà vu arose to Jane while she watch Harry introduced himself and that made her smile at the memory of their first meeting.
Mr. Porter happily invited Harry into their tent and Jane followed gladly. Jane showed Harry a vintage camera which fascinates him that he snaps a shot of everything around the place: trees, Jane, grass, butterflies, Jane, flowers, dirt, Mr. Archie with Jane and the light of sun passing through the leaves.
Then, Mr. Porter set up his old dark chamber projector at the middle of the tent. Harry immediately handed the camera to Jane and walk at the new thing he attracts. Jane giggled softly.
Pictures of Gorillas, The Charles Darwin's Revolution of Man, Couples dancing...
Harry tilts his head as he looks at it then he looks at Jane and pulls her for a dance (he throws some crazy shapes as his moves.) Mr. Porter claps his hands joyfully at them.
...a man riding a bike...
Harry stops and points at the image uncertainly then Jane went outside and showed a 1870 high – wheeled bike which Harry greedily rode and used in ease. Jane was awe in sight.
...the galaxy, planets and stars.
At night time, they went up the hill with Mr. Porter's telescope. When Harry looks through the eyepiece, it was so close yet so far, an up-close glowing ball of gas displayed on the sky he sees and it is an incredible moment Harry experienced.
But from afar, Anne is experiencing the most horrible worry for her son. She's been pacing the porch back and forth.
"Mum!" the voice she was missing for reaches his ears and relief flowed through her.
"My son," she opens her arms and Harry gratefully embraces. "Where have you been?" cupping the face of Harry.
"I just saw the world, mum, and it's lovely."
Before the sun peeks to the horizon, Harry got up from his bed and startled Khari and disturbed his sleep. Khari groans at Harry.
Harry mumbles his 'sorry'. He jogs down the stairs and went outside while trying to put a shirt on.
He woke up with a growing need to be beside Jane. A feeling he never felt before.
A confuse Khari stares at his friend as he runs then sigh behind him made him look over his shoulder. Anne with a cup of tea in her hands also staring at her son left early in the morning.
