~~~Jaemin woke up a little late. Hopefully, nothing was planned except for the end of the afternoon. The businessman went for a shower as he had sweat during the night. It was hot outside, the sun was already warming the humid air of the island. Jaemin enjoyed the feeling of the cold water running against his skin. He loved taking showers. He always got lost in his thoughts. It was a moment for himself, to gather his thoughts and clear his head.
He exited the bathroom a few minutes later and walked to his closet to choose some clothes. As Jaemin put his shorts on he heard his phone ring. He hurried a little to check who was calling. He brought the phone to his face and answered.
"Renjun-ah?"
"Ah finally, I was trying to call but since you have a bad connection where you are, it didn't ring."
"Yes, the hotel is in a remote area, it's almost scary how far from civilization we are." Jaemin said. "At least it's pretty..."
"Sir I called you in a hurry as your mother wasn't in the right state to do it but I have bad news."
Jaemin's throat became dry, Renjun was always serious but never someone to overreact. It could only mean that something bad happened.
"Is mother alright?" he asked worried.
"She'll eventually be. It's your father. The President had a cerebrovascular accident."
Jaemin stopped breathing. He knew what such events could lead to.
"How bad is it?" he asked after a few seconds of silence.
"He spent the night in the operating room. The doctors said he isn't stable yet, they are waiting for him to wake up."
"Has he lost all his reflexes yet?"
"I'm afraid so. When he was found he was already severely paralyzed..."
The businessman put his hand on his forehead. He walked outside to get some fresh air.
"How could such a thing happen?! He's never alone, there's always someone with him, how could no one notice?!" the younger asked with a mix of anger and sorrow in his voice. He did think his father was a hassle on some matters but he still held him dear in his heart.
"It happened while he was taking a shower. Mrs Na found him lying unconscious when she came back."
Jaemin wanted to cough as his stomach started to hurt from the stress. It felt like he was burning from inside.
"Shiyeon is working to repatriate you back to Korea. It's too dangerous for you to stay here, if the President does not make it would make you an easy target."
Jaemin silently agreed. He was still processing the news
"Jaemin-ah?"
Still silence.
"Jaemin... I know what you're feeling. It's not your fault, you did the right thing by going there. If your father went to the summit he wouldn't have never been able to make it. In Korea he was easily transferred to the nearest hospital, there's still hope thanks to it."
Jaemin hid his eyes under his hand. He didn't want to cry.
"It's okay to feel awful and saddened, you don't have to repress those feelings."Renjun added.
"I know." finally articulated Jaemin.
Renjun let out a little sight of relief.
"There's still a few hours before the boat comes back. That's enough time to pack your things and clear your head."
