"I don't know," Robbie said, just as confused as Lucy with a questionable look on his face, "I thought you said you never hit her that hard"

"well, that's cause I didn't" Lucy refused to admit what she'd done. unknown to Robbie, she was in deep shame for what she had done, that's why she couldn't tell anyone.

she feared that Robbie and her family would find out what she had done and hate her guts till death.

"she must be unwell from something else" Lucy suggested, desperately trying to change the subject of what happened to Claire.

"maybe" Robbie agreed hesitantly with eyes on claire.

"right, we better stop looking at her 'cause she's gonna notice" Lucy said and tried to remove Robbie from the cafe with a tug on his clothing.

"Nah, I think I should have a word with her," Robbie said as he began to walk towards the woman.

"no, don't!", Lucy blocked Robbie's way.

"what are you doing? out of the way," Robbie said, shoving Lucy aside without struggle despite her resistance.

she repeated the same act.

"Just leave it, okay? I'm sure she's learnt her lesson, being in a hospital and all. maybe it's karma or something, yeah?" Lucy assured her cousin as she got in front of him.

there were a few seconds of silence, Robbie with her brows still furrowed and Lucy with a worried expression.

"what's the matter with you?" Robbie questioned in worry and slight frustration. lucy could tell what his emotions were by his expressive face.

"nothing" Lucy spat as if she was surprised he asked such a question.

"Well, obviously something is, Lucy" Robbie continued to pest Lucy with questions, "I'm not being funny, but you've been acting so weird since yesterday, you're like a frightened puppy. So, Lucy, what the bloody hell is going on" Robbie gritted his teeth, wanting a question and wanting one now.

"you got your ears tested before I left, right?" Lucy asked as if it had relevance.

"right," Robbie responded with his eyebrows becoming closer together in confusion.
