Three Months Later...

"This is insane! You did amazing and they loved you OMG! I'm so giving you a promotion. The new branch that just opened in the south, I want you to lead it", Ada spoke so fast in the middle of praising me that I couldn't focus, I turned to Briana for help but she was also surprised as I was.

She just gave me a promotion, what the hell! "Did you just promote me to the head of the new branch?", I asked just to be sure. "Anha! You think you can handle it?", she asked with a smirk knowing very well that I was competitive when it came to my work. "Bring it on boss", I said with a smile, earning a high five.

It's been three months since I broke up with Liam, and even though I miss him, I decided to focus on my career. I've increased my skills through online classes and acquired more clients making Ada even happier.

The fact that I brought in one of the two biggest clients in ECC made her go crazy, hence the promotion. I agreed because it would give me time to myself and also away from Liam and everything that reminded me of him.

"We have an apartment there that I believe will suit you and also the office is not that big but you have a receptionist and three people in your team. I will do an intro then leave, will that be ok Branch Manager?", Ada teased making me smile even more. "Of course", I said putting my laptop in my bag.

I called an Uber and then went straight home even though Briana and Jeff wanted me to celebrate. I was not in a happy mood. When I got to my house, I took a bubble bath and then made grilled sandwiches.

I miss Liam's chicken lasagne like no one's business but I'm not about to admit that in public. As I enjoyed dinner, I scrolled across the pictures on my phone, it has been like tradition, I did it every time I was having dinner and it felt natural. To be honest, whenever I got time to myself, all I thought about was my Liam. I don't know what to do, I thought being away from him would make things easier but it's worse.

I miss him, and if possible, I love him even more. It's driving me crazy. How can I love someone who doesn't love me back? Maybe something is wrong with me. Oh god, am I obsessed with him? I released a breath just when I heard a knock on my door. It was so late that I asked myself whether I should answer or not. I'm scared to be honest, what if it's Liam? Oh god!

They knock the second time and I finally take in what I'm wearing, it's decent enough and will not make him think I'm trying to seduce him. I walk to the door and when I open it, it's Sandy.

"Sandy? Is everything ok?", I ask opening the door wider. "Yeah, I just didn't know where to go", she said then tears started running down her cheeks making me look at her in confusion. I welcomed her in, then led her to the guest room, she was different. I was not used to this kind of Sandy. I wanted to know what was wrong so badly but I ended up being hesitant.

I made sure she was comfortable and then left her to rest, she was fast asleep the moment I walked out of the room. I called Tate, not caring that it was in the middle of the night. "Amy, hi", he said leaving me hanging as if he was busy with something and I interrupted him.

"Uh, Sandy is here", I said hearing him release a breath on the other end. "Thank god! I've been looking for her for hours, how is she? Is she ok? Can I come to see her?", he sounded desperate. "She's fine, she is sleeping now, how about you come in the morning? I'll send you my address and you can come see her", I suggested. It sounded like there was trouble in paradise and I was not about to be sucked into the middle of it.

"Uh yeah of course. I'm sorry for the trouble. I owe you one", he said with a pleading voice. "I don't mind Tate. Sandy's my friend so don't worry about it", I was about to hang up when I heard his voice asking Tate about me. He sounded weird, like someone who was sick. I wondered what was wrong with him, I wanted to ask but I couldn't give in. I hung up before I could be tempted even more.

I went to bed right after, exhaustion taking over me. I got up early and went to check on Sandy, I found her scrolling on her phone while sniffing.

"Hey there", I said walking in slowly as if someone told me if I walked faster, I would wake her. She turned and wiped her last tear away. "I thought he cheated", she said with a smile. "You know I allowed something to happen in the past that almost broke us and I thought this was his way of getting back at me but I was wrong. She called me this morning and apologised for picking up his phone", she said with relief as if I understood who the 'she' was.

"Ouk! So, what are we going to do now?", I asked sitting at the edge of the bed. "Well, I guess I have to call him and apologise", she said nervously. It made me smile. "Why are you looking at me like that?", she asked with confusion. "Well, my dear Sandy, you don't need to call him. He told me that he was going to come to pick you up so, just make sure you look pretty when he gets here", I said standing up.

I needed to get ready for work. "Oh my gosh! I don't have anything to wear", she said in full-on panic mode, making me laugh as I walked back to my room. I heard her footsteps following me and past me as she went into my tiny closet and started looking for something that would look good on her without saying a word.

"Got it!", she shouted from the closet making me roll my eyes. I went on with my routine and made breakfast for her and Tate. I knew they would stay a while to talk things out. "You can leave the keys in the hanging flower pot, ok?", I said hugging her as I left for work. "Thank you, Amy", "Your welcome... anytime", I said the last part with emphasis.
