She tapped her fingers against the soothing handle, trying to find something to do. She looked out of the window admiring the scene. Dark sky, rain, that's exactly what she loved. She thought about her tragic past, knowing she wouldn't see her parents in 3 years. She looked at her arms observing them carefully, before biting her lip, regretting every whisper she told the world. She gazed back out of the window, catching every tree as it pasted in full speed. She turned in her black leather seat trying to make her self comfortable. There was no use.

"Are we there yet?" A girl with auburn red hair asked. Her freckles faded every time they past a lamp post. She was captivating, Alex would say.

"You can not ask that, understood?" The driver answers. Alex rolls her eyes and sighs, looking at her nails. This was Alex going to study in LA, because her parents no longer wanted her. Alex was not the bad girl type, in fact she was the snobby nerd in high school, however things change. She pulled her self away from the good and was lead by the bad. Luckily, this did not effect her grades, but her parents were disappointed. Alex's family were rich, earning money was no surprise. Her father was a business man, and her mother a lawyer resulting to Alex's oldest sister being a model.

"Hello, are you ok?" The same girl that spoke earlier said. Alex turned her gaze away from the window and looked at the girl in confusion.

"I'm fine, thank you." Alex replies, quite discourteously. The girl puts her hands out for Alex to shake, however Alex just sits there staring at it.

"Oh, I'm Harriet. Harriet Scott. I'm going to this university because I'm apparently clever." She claims, flicking her hair. Alex scoffs and looks at her.

"If you were clever, you would leave me alone." Alex snaps. Harriet jumps back at Alex's harsh words, before walking back to her seat. Alex lays her head against the window, trying to find a way to sleep, again no use.

"Were here!" The woman sitting next to the driver says. Alex rolls her eyes again, at the woman's energetic mood. Does no one understand that this is not a trip to the cinema? She was going to have to get use to it some how. These people were nothing like the people in Hawaii. These people didn't mind talking to strangers or embarrassing them selves on a bus with about 30 girls and boys. These were the people Alex was dreading to live with for the next 3 years of her life, but this was it. A new beginning, a new life.

"Welcome to UCLA. University of California, Los Angeles. We welcome you to a bright future, a clear script. An outstanding opportunity to get you ready for the world." The principle publicizes. Alex stands in the front of the gates listening to every word the principle said. It didn't last long before she started dozing off.

"Thank you for choosing UCLA and again welcome to a brighter future." The field outside fills with claps from every direction. Alex soon wakes up and starts clapping too, trying to take away the awkwardness. The students walk in single file towards the entry doors. Alex follows every action they make, not making eye contact with anyone. This was it, as soon as she sets foot on that campus the world will change before her eyes.

She takes a deep breath before following the students through the huge antique gates. Girls laughing, boys cheering, campaigns being taken place. Was this it, was this University?

"Hello, welcome to UCLA. Have this!" A girl with long black hair reaching her waist exclaimed, handing Alex a leaflet.

"Uh, thanks..." Alex says, taking the leaflet, reading it.

Love dancing, ever tried horse riding. Expert at rock climbing, can sing, then this is the right group for you. We except every race, sexuality and personality. For try outs meet us (Our group) in the dance hall. Don't forget your dance uniforms. Hope to see you there.

Alex reads it one more time before holding her head high, walking towards the place she would have to call home for the 3 years. After hours of talking to campaign leaders and getting more leaflets, Alex finally made it to a silent field. The sun shone bright and the trees held their branches high.

"Despise them, never trust them. Hurt them and they'll hurt back. Careless whispers cost lives. Never forget, what goes around comes around." Alex says, while playing with the daisies on the grass. She sighs before standing up and heading back to the group she was assigned to. It was getting dark and Alex was wearing her short jumpsuit with a burgundy Aztec print and burgundy sandals. Her thought of summer was a bit crazy but after all it was California.

"Hello everyone, I am your residential leader. Meaning I will be the teacher who assigns you to your rooms. As you may or may not know, some of you get more luxurious dorms. The reason being is your parents paid extra. Some of you will be assigned with a partner or as most students say her 'Dorm Mate'. If you follow me back to the coach I will show you your way to your dorms." The advisor says. She leads them towards the coach where she then made them sit in alphabetical order by surname, meaning Alex would be in the middle. Really, were not three. All Alex could think of was who she would be next to.

"Alex Manners, you will be in a luxury dorm, next to Harriet. Harriet Scott." Alex looks at the teacher with wide eyes and scoffs. Alex then turns to look at an eager Harriet, she rolls her eyes and heads over to Harriet.

"Well I know I wasn't nice at first, but I guess were going to have to be friends." Alex announces while sighing.

"This is going to be just great!" Harriet shouts, waving her hands in the air. Alex rolls her eyes again before heading towards the coach where she would finally meet home.
