I woke up to the constant beeping of my alarm clock. I rolled over grumbling some incoherent curses. I slapped my hand down on top of the clock to get it to shut up. I crawled out of bed and dragged myself across my bedroom to my en-suite bathroom. I splashed some cold water on my face before towel drying it. I walked out of the bathroom and went straight for my bedroom door.
"Ow fuck!" I squealed whilst grabbing my whole foot into my hands and squeezing the toe I had stubbed on the door when I opened it.
After about three minutes of holding back curses and rocking back and forth sitting on my bedroom floor, I got up and walked downstairs to the kitchen.
"Goood morning, Scarlett, how did you sleep?" My Father cooed. He was 42, and he was a business man which meant, his work took him all over the world, I got to go with him. Yay me. Not. It was hard changing schools every 6 or 7 months. This time though he promised I could graduate here.
"Just dandy," I replied flopping down onto a kitchen chair.
He was sitting at the kitchen table reading a news paper and drinking his coffee. His mop of curly blonde hair was a mess on top of his head, his soft brown eyes had bags under them and his usual straight 6 foot frame was hunched over. I knew he was more tired then he let on.
"Are you ready for your first day?" He asked looking up over the rim of his glasses at me.
Damn, I forgot I was suppose to start school today.
"Um, I think I need one more day to get settled," I told him.
"Really? But we've been here for three days," He urged me on.
"I know but I've still got stuff to un-pack and I'm exhausted, what's the point of going to school if I'm just going to sleep through the classes?" I said, like a smart-ass.
"Watch your tone," He looked around the kitchen at the half un-packed boxes, thinking about my answer.
"Okay, fine," He started but I interrupted, "Thank you so much, Daddy, you're the best!" I stood from the table and walked over to peck him on the cheek. I turned to leave the room when his voice stopped me,
"I wasn't finished, I have one condition," He stated.
"What?" I asked, waiting for a reply.
"When you're done unpacking your bedroom, you have to get started on the rest of the house, if you stay home, you're working." He finished.
"Seriouslyyyy?" I dragged out. "But I need rest! That's why I'd stay home," I pleaded.
"Well we better get going then, don't want you to be late for school," He said, standing up from the table, grabbing his keys and coat.
"No! I mean no, I'll just stay home," I said.
"And work," He finished for me.
"And work," I agreed.
"Okay, well I've got to leave in fifteen anyways, so go set you're alarm to go off in another hour or two, no later, okay?" He compromised.
"Yay, thanks daddy," I replied running up the stairs to the glorious heaven that is my bed.
"I'll be home around 8!" He yelled after me.
"Kayy! Love you, bye," I yelled back.
"Love you too," He said just loudly enough for me to hear.
I closed my door, I walked over to my bed, climbed in and quickly set my alarm for 10 am, it was just 7:46 now so two hours is like 10. I could push it a little, I worked fast anyways.
