Annie Olsen had a problem.. a big problem.. she had cancer.. well — she didn't really have cancer she just thought she was going to get cancer from her chain smoking. The thought made her anxious and when she got anxious she smoked so she was in this big cycle until she started attending these meetings about people like her. It was to stop them from smoking for the rest of their lives, to make them sober. But Annie didn't have that much self control and just the thought of death made her smoke, until she met William Ulrich.

William was in the same group as her, he still smoked but his fears had already come to life as he had cancer. He had lung cancer and even though he seemed okay, inside, under his ribs — his lungs were struggling, rotten, withered, and small. Annie found comfort in him when she thought she was alone, she thought he was the other person in the world that wasn't different from her — the same as her. Love was a big word and Annie didn't know if that's what she felt for William.. or if he even felt the same way — this made her smoke more.

Now that you know about these two, we can get to what's happening now, in the present day.

"I think... I've come to terms with my cancer because... well my dad had cancer so I saw how he was. He lived everyday like it was his last, so that's what I decided to do, I could live for a couple more years or die tomorrow.. shit... I don't know, maybe I could die today." Will spoke between inhales of a cigarette — he sat in between two other people in his help group. Everyone stared at him, including Annie. "That was... inspiring William." The head of the group, some lady named Beth or something, said.

Will nodded at her words, rolling his eyes as he looked down at his scarred hands from burning them so many times. Beth or whatever her name was, was a blonde, middle aged, woman that was clearly trying to look ten times younger than her age — and she was clearly hooking up with most of the men in the group. Will looked up and stared into the eyes of Annie — she looked away quickly, taking a drag of her cigarette, hand shaking. She was flustered. Will grinned slightly before the sound of a clap pulled him from his thoughts.

"Looks like time is up, thank you all for joining us again. Same time next week." Beth said in a cheery voice. Everyone muttered their goodbyes before dispersing — Annie was still sitting as she gathered her purse, carton of cigarettes, lighter, and jacket. "Annie... why're you still coming to these meetings?" She looked up at his question, he stood over her — cigarette hanging between his lips. "'Cause one day I'm gonna end up getting cancer and.. yeah... doing this so I don't have to in the future." Will huffed a laugh, he shrugged. "Whatever you say. Come on, let's go get a drink."
