Donnie x Childhood friend reader

summary: the turtles met April and her sister Y/N when they were younger and Y/N quickly became good friends with Donatello since they were both science nerds. Time skip to current times and you have a crush on Donnie but don't have the courage to do so. the rest you're gonna have to find out :)

it has been years since you had first meet Donatello and the rest of the Hamato family.

"Come on I gotta show you something" April urged you, flashing you her signature grin. You chuckled and picked up the pace to stay beside your sister. 

"I still don't understand how this could be so important" You pointed out as you rounded a corner into a spot in the neighborhood you had never been in. But April seemed confident in where she was going, so you trusted her.

"You'll see" April said, now a little out of breath since you've been running for a few blocks by now. 

April finally stopped and you looked around. It looked normal to you. It was a little hideaway spot in an alley between two buildings. It looked mostly empty, except for the few trash bins. 

"April" You turned to look at your sister. "Why are we here, in an empty alleyway?" April grinned and pointed to the manhole cover on the floor a few feet away from you. You raised an eyebrow at her and she rolled her eyes.

"Follow me" she beaconed to you with one of her hands and hurried over to lift the manhole cover. 

"Wait what!?" You exclaimed, grabbing her shoulder and spinning her around before she could lift it all the way, causing it to slam down with a loud bang. "I know you love adventures and all, but do you really think it's wise to just go down and explore the sewers?" April rolled her eyes.

"You need to relax" She said, taking your hands off her shoulders and moving to lift the manhole cover. You shook your head, sighing as you realized you wouldn't be able to convince her otherwise. 

April jumped down and you reluctantly followed, luckily landing out of the sewer water that flowed next to you. April led the way through the sewers, and you were now regretting not bringing a flashlight. 

Eventually, both of you heard voices up ahead and you jumped behind April, who only grinned. 

"Hey guys!" April called out, which caused the voices ahead to silence instantly. "I brought a friend for you to meet" Your eyes widened, and you looked at her like she was crazy.

"April, what are you doing!?" You said in a hushed whisper, fear starting to make your heart pump faster as the sound of footsteps echo through the dark sewer tunnel. You gripped her arm, unsure whether to run or stay. 

Then, four figures appeared from around the corner. they were... TURTLES!? Your eyes widened like a deer to headlights and you stood there, unsure what to do. You'd be lying if you didn't say you were both scared and curious, a bad combination for you.

"Y/N" April said, looking at you with an amused expression. She didn't look scared at all, and that baffled you. "I'd like your to meet my new friends." She took your hand and guided you a little closer to the mysterious turtle mutants in front of you. 

"This is Raph" She pointed at the bigger turtle of the group, who waved at you nervously. "And that's Leo" She then pointed at the turtle with red stripes over his eyes. They actually looked kind of cool, and you wondered whether he had been born with them or they formed over time (I know the answer :3). "And then that's Mikey" She pointed at the smallest who had cute little orange spots like paint splatters on his arms. Mikey grinned at you excitedly, waving at you. "And last but not least, this is Donnie" She moved her hand to gesture to the last turtle. He had a very different shell then the others. It didn't look at all hard, and he had a bigger head. He had glasses on too, which was a little odd but it only captured your interest more.
