"But I can't exist in a world without you."

"I really do love it when your light does that."

The sudden flooding of Firetown quickly subsided as fast as Wade Ripple had evaporated out of thin air due to being trapped inside the Fireplace's romance reading room with a fiery woman who was the love of his life, Ember Lumen. She never imagined something like this would happen after their break up and the hurtful words she had said to Wade a while ago but life can sometimes be unfair. At least she had the chance to confess her love for Wade, before it was too late.

Ember could hear commotion outside the pile of debris that was blocking the room's exit. Shafts of light shone through as more and more debris were pulled down by other Fire elements until the exit was fully open. Bernie and Cinder rushed to embrace their daughter but at the sight of her kneeling on the ground, cradling the lantern that carried the last remaining blue flame, they stopped, having realised that something must've happened to Wade since they had saw him enter the shop but only Ember was there.

"Wade is gone," Ember told them, her eyes on the verge of lava tears. "He saved me." She continued as her mom came over to comfort her. Bernie didn't know how to feel, he was angry at her daughter for dating a water guy, disappointed that he couldn't trust her to run the shop after he retired but she risked her life to save the blue flame and seeing Ember like this, he couldn't help but feel sad for her. Ember took a deep, shuddering breath and, constantly holding back her tears, got up and held the blue flame lantern out to her father. Being honest with her àshfá terrified her but she had to be. At least this one time, for Wade.

"Dad," she said. "This is all my fault. The shop...Wade." Her voice broke at the mere mention of Wade as lava tears started falling down from her eyes. "I have to tell you the truth. I don't want to run the shop. I know that was your dream, but its not mine. Im sorry." With each word Ember cried out, her flame was slowing burning down to a gentle flicker. "I'm a bad daughter." Ember was fully crying now as she continued to
hold out the lantern.

Bernie's eye sparkled with tears, his heart aching at the sight of his daughter. He slowly took the lantern from Ember and gently placed it on the ground then held her hand. "Ember, the shop was never the dream," he said with determination. "You were the dream. You were always the dream." After hearing those beautiful words, Ember fully collapsed against her àshfá's chest, sobbing as she hugged him. "I loved him, Dad." Cinder proceeded to join in and embraced Ember.

Mother, father, and daughter all held one another, crying quietly. They almost didn't hear it at first. The sound was so distant, it seemed more like an echo of their own tears. But slowly, faintly, a fourth whimper joined in.💧
