Wade slowly tiptoed his way to Bernie wearing a nervous smile. "So, uh...Mr Lumen. I don't think we've probably met yet." Wade was sweating profusely, giving a nervous laugh. Bernie, with his wife by his side had his arms folded and had a judgemental expression. Their past meetings were interesting to say the least, Wade accidentally offended Bernie without meaning to and crashed his retirement party half an hour ago. Bernie and Wade proceeded to have a small little chat that seemed as though they've finally warmed up to each other. Wade couldn't stop apologizing for offending Bernie without meaning to, shedding lots of tears while doing so.

Ember quickly came over to comfort the sniffling Wade. "There, there, Wade." Ember said with a soothing voice. Wade suddenly bawled and landed on Ember's shoulder, hugging her. "Um, Àshfá, are we good here?" Ember asked her father and he quickly replied with "Oh, yes, yes. Everything is fine. I accepted his apology and he started tearing up like crazy."

"I'm sorry! I'm just so happy!" Wade sobbed hard. "Do water people often cry?" Bernie silently asked over the sobbing noises. "Trust me, they do. I've seen his family." Ember smiled as remembered the time she went to visit Wade's family. Her smile faded away as soon as she remembered the internship his mother mentioned to her. She still hadn't told her parents about it because she wasn't sure if she was ready to study abroad and staying far away from her parents.

"Wait, you've seen his family?" Bernie asked, shocked and curious about what Ember had been up to when she was dating Wade. "Alright, Wade, stop crying and go help my wife with cleaning up the shop. I wanna have a little private chat with my daughter." Bernie told Wade who immediately got up and saluted. "Sir, yes sir!" Wade shouted which got a laugh out of Ember. She really loved this goofball. As Wade went over to Cinder's direction, Ember and her father went down to the basement. She wasn't sure of what to expect from this conversation which made her slightly nervous. The basement was surprisingly not affected by the flood that much, just a few water puddles on the ground that leaked through the window gaps.

"So, Àshfá, what is it that you wanted to talk about?" Ember asked sheepishly. "Well, I'd like to apologise for not letting you explain before getting mad at you back at the party." Bernie answered with. This took Ember by surprise. "Àshfá, you don't really have to apologise for that. I...I deserved it." Ember frowned. "Ember," Bernie came over and held Ember's hands. "I wouldn't have been so mad at you if you told me what happened." Bernie said with an apologetic smile. "So, tell me, how did you burst the pipes?" Bernie let go of Ember's hands and asked. Ember wasn't really ready to admit that her temper caused such a ruckus but she had to.

"Um, well, during the red dot sale, my temper got to me and I didn't want to explode and scare away all the customers." Ember began to recap what happened. Her temper caused the pipes to burst out water which was where she met Wade for the first time. He wrote them citations and she chased him all the way from Firetown to Element City. Despite winning him over, it was too late for the citations to be dropped before it was send over to be inspected.

"It was honestly a terrible feeling to have me as the reason why your shop would get shut down, Àshfá." Ember sighed as she held her elbow. Bernie took a deep breath, calming himself. "Well, thankfully that didn't happen. I'm assuming you and, Wade has something to do with it?" Bernie guessed which made Ember smile a little. There was something nice about him calling a water person by their name. "Yup, we did. I got to convince his boss by making a deal. If we could find the reason why water was leaking through the canals before Friday, the citations would be dropped." Ember explained.

After temporarily blocking the leak, Wade smoothly asked Ember out on a date. Her expressions gradually lit up when she told her father about the dates she went with Wade. "No wonder I see you being better with customers, he must've had the quite the effect on you." Bernie chuckled. "Yeah. He did." Ember smiled and turned to look at the pipe that Wade burst out from, staring at it lovingly. Ember and Bernie came up the stairs slowly, still deep in their conversation. "Wow, so he took you to see the Vivisteria flower despite the risks? He's a true keeper." Bernie admitted and Ember laughed. She and Wade saw each other at the same time and he quickly ran over to her.

"Ah, Wade. Everything done here?" Bernie asked with a smile. "Yup! Everything done here." Wade answered and suddenly saluted. The goofy gesture made Ember giggle. "Hmm, Ember? Why don't you and Wade go out and have some fun?" Bernie suddenly suggested. Ember gasped and looked at a wide eyed Wade. "Holy dewdrop! Are you saying what I think you're saying?" Wade was completely blown away, he might even tear up again. "For real?" Ember asked, still shocked that her father was allowing her to go on a date with Wade. "Yes, of course. You both deserve it." Bernie smiled and took both of Ember's hands and patted it. Ember couldn't help herself and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, Àshfá." She expressed as sniffling could be heard from behind them. The both of them let go and Ember took Wade's hand and pulled him away quickly. Ember bid her mother goodbye before running straight to the front door.
