"C'mon, Hanako-kun! The rain's so nice and pretty!" Nene tugged his hands gently, leading him outside the school. In her other hand, she held the handle of a rose colored umbrella that was still folded up. Hanako stumbled the slightest bit, and yelped. "Oh, you okay, Hanako-kun?" Nene asked, a bit worried that she's been too rough with him. "M' fine! It just surprised me a bit, that's all." Hanako brushed her concern off. She smiled and led him outside, just the slightest bit gentler.
Nene opened her umbrella, and let Hanako stand under it with her. They gazed at the rain, listening to the peaceful sounds of the drops hitting against their plastic umbrella. The smell of the rain falling from the sky, intoxicating their noses with that soft scent.
"Isn't it pretty?" Nene asked, grinning. Hanako nodded. "I've never really liked rain because the clouds block the stars at night, but I guess it's pretty nice.." "It waters the plants in the school garden for us, so maybe that's why I like it." "Because it gives you an excuse to be lazy?" Hanako asked, his sadistic smile slowly widening. Nene stared at the ground distantly and hesitantly nodded. Hanako burst out laughing and crouched on the ground, hunching over. She blushed in embarrassment and turned away. "To be lazy! Haha!" "Shut up, Hanako-Kuuuuun!" Hanako put his dark uniform sleeve to his mouth, silencing himself.
He stood up, smiling softly, and ran his fingers through Nene's long cream-colored hair. Nene turned, looking at Hanako, who closed his eyes and grinned. His fingers began to comb through Nene's hair, while she looked at him curiously. She did recall the boy saying he liked her long hair when she talked about cutting it, but this was definitely new.
As he combed through her hair, the rain began to fall slower, and become a light sprinkle. Nene closed her umbrella and let the drops slowly fall on her face. It was like a calming shower. The water fell through Hanako, but it was still also a bit pleasant for the ghost boy.
Hanako looked at the setting sun, his fingers unconsciously braiding Nene's hair. He sighed and stared distantly at the sky. "It's getting late, you should probably go home." Hanako said quietly. Nene nodded, humming in response. "Are you sad, Hanako-kun?" "A little, but nothing you need to worry about!" He patted the top of her head kindly and let go of her soft hair, the braid falling on her back. Nene frowned and said, "I wanna know!" "It's not something you need to worry about, Yashiro." His tone was dangerously serious, and Nene backed away from the subject. She picked up her school bag and faced Hanako. She balled up her fists and bunched up his uniform shirt in her hands.
She pressed her lips to Hanako's cheek and smiled, "It's a charm to make you feel better!" while her cheeks and ears were dusted pink. Hanako's face flushed a reddish color and he took a step back, stammering. Nene waved and walked out of the school gate, walking home.
Hanako raised his hand to where Nene had kissed him and shakily exhaled, releasing a breath he didn't know he'd been holding. He looked at his hand and smiled gently.
"The charm worked. Nice job, Yashiro.."
