"It's the severance." Hanako told Nene, the glimmer leaving his eyes. His body began to shatter into beautiful glass pieces, that eventually faded out of the world of the living. Nene gasped, watching him and unable to move. Her body and mind was overcome with shock. "Hana-" "Yashiro." Hanako cut the girl off, sounding very serious.
Of course, she paid him little to no mind, and rushed towards him, her hands extending towards his back where the pieces were falling out like glass shards. "Hanako-kun!! What's wrong?! Why is your body falling apart?!" Hanako stood up, jumping from his makeshift seat of the window cill. "Now that a new Kannagi has been offered up to the gods, the human and the supernatural world will be split! In! Two!" His voice was happy, yet his expression was dead.
"What do you mean..?" Nene asked, her hands were trembling. Hanako's cold arms wrapped around her, so comforting, yet so painful. "We supernaturals will disappear from the near shore. For good." His voice was soft, and with that tone, you'd never thing he was saying what he was. Nene gasped at the information she'd newly received. "But don't you worry, Yashiro, this has absolutely nothing to do with you anymore. Because as time passes, you'll forget. All your time with supernaturals. All your memories about me and Aoi-chan. You'll forget it all and live on happily." "Hanako-kun, what are you saying...?"
Hanako released his weak grip on the girl and lifted his hands to her forehead. Neen realized was he was doing. "Stop it!" She yelped and pushed the boy away, a ball of lighting surrounding and protecting her.
Hanako held his hand up, the electricity burning him. He sighed and brushed his hand off on his maroon coat that was ever shattering into fading glass. "Oh... Did that Sumire give that to you?" Hanako looked at Nene distrustfully, and she winced with fear. "Hanako-kun, what were about about to do to me? What do you mean by forgetting? And Aoi-chan?" Hanako remained calm despite the question asked to him. Nene groaned. "You are always like this, Hanako-kun." Her words ended in a small growl.
"You are always never saying anything to anyone, and always making decisions on your own! What are you doing now?! What's happening?! Give me a proper explanation!!" Hanako looked down and smirked. "Your wish has been fulfilled." He said vaguely.
"My... Wish?"
"You made a wish to me that you wanted to live in the real world. And you wanted to live a long life, not just what you have left. Your life has been expanded now." "Huh..?" "Hm? Are you not happy?" "N-No, I am, it's just.... How?" Hanako extended his arms out and grinned widely.
"Because Aoi Akane has died in your stead!"
He laughed childishly, and cupped Nene's face as tears started to fall down her face. His arms started to chip away, along with his back. "You're lying, right Hanako-kun? Aoi-chan has nothing to do with my lifespan! That's.... You're lying!" "She became the sacrifice for you." Hanako explained in a comforting tone. "I- That wasn't my wish! I wanted to live a long life with everyone! I don't want to forget anyone! I don't want Aoi-chan to die for me!"
Hanako took small step closer to Nene and pressed his forehead against hers. "Figures. You see, Yashiro, the problem there is that I like you whereas I couldn't give half of a damn about Aoi-chan. But it's okay! I'm gonna die soon too, and it might not be right now, but you'll forget someday!" His hands further chipped, and his smile softened barely.
Nene pulled away and lifted her hand, as if to to slap Hanako, and he winced, squeezing his eyes shut and preparing for the impact. But...
She just couldn't do it.
Nene grabbed Hanako's coat and buried her face in it. "Please... Please don't die." She begged the boy. Hanako gasped and wrapped his arms around her again, barely any of him was left. Nene hugged him back, crying and tugging at his coat. He squeezed his eyes shut and let tears fall down his face as the last of his body faded into shards of glass.
"I wanted to be with you too..." Were the last things that he said, and the rest of the glass started to fade. Nene grabbed at the shards and cried out. She tried to piece his body back together but to no avail. The glass just kept fading. When nothing was left, she screamed and cried pointlessly, tearing her throat, and slammed her fists on the ground.
"Hanako-kun..."
