It started with a school project

Biology class

(Noel's POV)

"Sweetie, you need to wake u- NOEL, WHAT IS THAT BOY DOING IN YOUR ROOM!?"
Oh shit.
Noel looked to his side, seeing Mischa still asleep next to him, and then up, seeing his mother, looking like she was about to lose it. How did Mischa sleep through that yell? "ANSWER ME!!". Noel shook his head to gain consciousness, looking at his mom with a frightened look. He didn't know what to say. That's when another voice started speaking.

"Miss Gruber, i am so sorry. I did not do anything to your son! My new parents are treating me very bad, so i messaged Noel to see if i could stay here, just for the night. I am very sorry, we should have asked you". Noel looked at Mischa, shocked at the sudden rescue. He looked over to his mom, who was now the one that was at a loss for words.

"Well...uhh- Im of course so sorry for you Mischa, if you ever need to get away from that you can come over here, please just tell me first. Okay, you should probably both get up and get ready for school", she said, smiling at Mischa right before giving Noel a look that said "Im onto you" and walking out the door. "Thanks for lying to her Mischa, i would've been in serious trouble". Mischa's smile turned into a slightly sad expression.

"It is not lie Noel... i wanted to come here to hang out with you of course, but i also did not want to stay in my new parents House. They are always yelling at me or at eachother. They thought that they had adopted a two year old, so when i came to Uranium and they saw me, they got very mad and locked me in the basement. That is the only place in the house i am allowed to be in now". Mischa had said it all with a very calm expression, but Noel was more shocked than he'd probably ever been.

"Mischa, that is seriously terrible!! My mom is completely right, come here whenever you want!". He looked at Mischa, trying to give him a sweet smile, but Mischa continued looking down with a calm yet slightly sad look. "It is okay Noel, but thank you. I need to go back to new parents house to get uniform, see you in school". Mischa held out his fist, and Noel fist bumped him quickly before he jumped out of the window, and right when Noel sat down on the bed again, he heard his mom yell from the living room.

"Tell your boyfriend he can get in and out of the front door next time"

(Mischa's POV)

After quickly sneaking into his room to get his uniform on, he ran out before his new parents could even notice that he was there. He sat in his car and considered skipping school, but it was the last day of the week before the weekend started, and he wanted to see Noel and the rest of the choir today anyways. He was excited for their sleepover tomorrow, he hadn't been to a sleepover for at least a year. When he was in school in Ukraine, him and his friends had sleepovers all the time, but then he started skipping school alot to look after his dying mother. at one point he hadn't been to school in almost two months, and they stopped inviting him.

As he was driving and wondering whether or not he should bring some snacks, he realized he had completely zoned out, and he had already arrived at the school. He found a parking space and ran into school, knowing he was definitely gonna be late. He ran into the classroom of the first period, sitting down next to Noel and smiling at him. Noel smiled back quickly, before looking back up at the teacher, that was explaining something Mischa wasn't paying attention to. Mischa accidentally let himself zone out, and after maybe five minutes, he felt Noel tap his shoulder.

"Okay, did you hear that?". Mischa hesitated before giving him a thumbs up. He most definitely did not hear that. "Okay, great. So if it has to be done by monday, we could probably be done with the project today in class, and then we can meet up a bit before school starts and practice what we're gonna say before we have to go to class and present?". Mischa agreed. "Yeah yeah, sure, sounds good Noel". Noel looked at him with a slightly irritated look. "Okay, well, let's begin working i guess".
