(I'm listening to Sleeping With Sirens while writing this, and I got an idea when 'The Strays' came on... so enjoy.)
Your class squirms in their seats in the big yellow school bus. Everybody screams and laughs like animals, belonging in a zoo. Thank goodness that's where you were going for the field trip. Your eyes wander and scan the whole bus. Your eyes stick on Chandler, a boy you've liked for awhile. He laughs with his friends in the front of the bus.
Your eyes lock on him and you can't seem to pull away from his smiling face. He notices you staring at him, and looks at you too. His eyes and yours seem to have a conversation. His friends call his name, and he looks away. Your eyes finally unlock and you look to the end of your seat.
You pick up your feet and rest your head on the cool glass. You shove your earbuds into your ears and it swallows up the sound of your classmates screaming. You hit play, and close your eyes.
Your eyes open abruptly, to somebody tapping your shoe. You pull your earbuds out and look up to the person. The bus driver glares at you, "Your class left a couple minutes ago, I didn't know you were back here. I suggest you go find them."
You throw you feet down to the bus floor and pick up your heavy head off of the window.
Your feet drag behind you as you walk to the opening gate of the zoo. Your class is no where to be seen, until you spot one of Chandler's friends, Gray. You hesitate to walk over to him, but you were desperate for somebody you knew. You walk up to him, and he glances to see who you were, "What do you need?" he asks, looking around.
You try to find words from your vocabulary to place into a sentence. He finally looks and gives all of his attention to you. "Where is our class? I kind of fell asleep on the bus, and I just got off," you mumble.
He looks around again, "I'm not sure. Chandler is in the bathroom, and I'm waiting for him. The rest of the class, I don't know for sure. You can be in our group," he offers with a smile, you smile back.
"That sounds great, I'd be happy to join," you tell him, nodding your head subtly.
Chandler walks out of the bathroom, nodding his head towards Gray, then noticing you. He stops in his tracks, but continues after a few seconds. He glances at both of you, "Hey, you're chillin' with us?" he asks.
You nod, "Is that a problem?" your eyebrows scrunch together, waiting for an answer.
He shakes his head, "No, no. Of course not. You're fine. So, what do you want to do first?"
You both shrug, "How about we go in order, see the signs? We can just follow them, so we can get to everything." Gray proposes. You nod, along with Chandler.
You all walk in silence towards the first exhibit, the monkeys. Gray laughs and points at one sniffing its ass, "Ha! There's you!" he points and laughs at Chandler.
You giggle and watch Chandler's comeback. He turns around and points to a monkey looking grumpy and angry, probably the eldest. "Well... that one is you!" he replies. Gray pouts, mocking the monkey. You all laugh and continue walking.
Gray is a few feet ahead of Chandler and you, he makes a left turn and runs down to the building of cold-blooded animals. He swings the door open and disappears inside. Chandler guides you over to a bench next to the entrance to the small exhibit. You sit with him in silence until he speaks up, "I wish we could find the class. It sucks that we're lost, but it's still fun," he smiles at you while speaking. You smile back warmly.
"You know... it's kinda fun being on our own. No chaperones to control us. Just us being the strays," you look down at the ground as you talk. He listens carefully, watching you.
Gray barges out of the building looking confused, "I thought you guys were right behind me! What the hell?" he sighs, catching his breath. Chandler and you laugh to yourselves at Gray's reaction once he came out of the exhibit.
You all walk through all of the exhibits in the zoo, stopping at the swan paddle boats. "I've always wanted to go on one of these!" Gray exclaims, getting very antsy.
Chandler shrugs, "Sure, on one condition. (Y/N) rides with me," he explains, staring at you with a smirk plastered on his face.
You look at Gray, and back to Chandler. You hesitate to answer, but when are you going to ever paddle on a swan boat with Chandler ever again? Probably never, "Yeah sure. Sounds fun. Let's go get tickets."
Chandler and you settle in a swan boat, putting your feet on the pedals. Gray already took off by himself. Chandler looks at you, "Ready to go?" he asks, and you nod.
Chandler and you pedal as fast as you can, stopping to admire a sitting turtle on a rock. You pass by ducks, fish, and turtles. Chandler reaches his hand to a duck, and screaming once it quacks. You explode with laughter, finding Chandler's girlish screams terribly amusing. He crossed his arms and pedals even harder, "Never speak of that to anyone."
The drive around the pond comes to an end when you approach the deck. Chandler gets out first, and holds out his hand to help you get out. You stare at his hand, then awkwardly grab it. He pulls you up, causing you to stumble a little closer to him. He adjusts his stance, leaving personal space for himself and you. He grabs your hand and runs over to Gray. You found him sitting impatiently on a bench, watching geese walk around a fountain. His arms cross around his chest, and he shoots up when he sees you. "What the hell? You're always disappearing!" he whines.
Chandler, Gray, and you get on the bus. Luckily you found your class just as they were loading on. You all sit on a long cushion. Gray sits, nodding off, while Chandler and you chat about the adventures he and you embarked on throughout the field trip. You share laughs until the bus pulls up to the school.
The whole bus load of kids pile off, except Chandler and you. He grabs your hand, getting off of the bus with you. He hugs you, "Today was fun. I'm glad you were there with us," he beams.
You hug him again, and then part ways. Your mind replays the whole trip with him, until you close your eyes that night and fall asleep.

Carl Grimes Imagines ➹ Smut&Fluff
FanfictionMost imagines are of Carl Grimes, but I do write some of Chandler Riggs. I write both smut and fluff, which I alternate each chapter. I try my best to update as fast as I possibly can. The imagines get better throughout the book, and hopefully you...
